Baker Business Bowl VIII moves into the final round

The eighth annual Baker Business Bowl is now down to the final five teams. They include:
• ACE Aeronautical Engineering Consulting – this company will plan, design, and develop vertiports (a type of airport for aircrafts that land and take off vertically) to accommodate multiple eVTOL designs.

BSB participates in a food drive

In an effort to show our commitment to servant leadership, the BSB held a food drive for Our Lady of Mercy Outreach as part of its community service efforts. Faculty and staff donated a variety of items for the organization's food pantry including canned goods, boxed cereal, pasta and juices. We are grateful to all who contributed.

*Dr. Mike Chitavi co-authored a case study, "Equity Bank: Challenging a Giant", that was recently produced by Harvard Business School Publishing (Case Studies). This is an elite publication that is used as an educational resource by teachers around the world.
*Dr. Hussein Abdoh's article entitled "The effect of structural oil shocks on bank systemic risk in the GCC countries" was accepted in Energy Economics. Additionally, his paper "COVID-19 pandemic and volatility interdependence between gold and financial assets" was recently published in Applied Economics.
*Dr. David Desplaces' article "Starbucks in China: what lessons can Starbucks learn from Luckin?" was published in The Case Journal. Additionally, his article “What factors predict faculty engagement in business ethics education?” was accepted by the Journal of Education for Business.
*Citadel Sports named Brittany Guthrie, BSB undergraduate program coordinator and advisor, their inaugural Top Dog of the Month.
*Dr. Robert Riggle was interviewed on South Carolina Public Radio about the challenges marketing professionals face from the current supply chain backlog.
*Dr. Sykes Wilford co-authored the article "Economic policy in a world where inflation, production, and productivity are measured and misleading and where macro-models cannot work effectively" in the Journal of Financial Transformation.
Dr. Wes Jones and Dr. Susan Wright's article "J&J Farms - capital budgeting analysis using predictive analysis and data visualizations" was accepted for publication in the Journal of Finance Case Research.
*Dr. Michael Chitavi and Dr. Susan Wright's article “Using course level data analytics to evaluate student learning outcomes & engagement" was accepted in the Research in Higher Education Journal.
*Dr. David Shepherd and Dr. Tracey Sigler were honored for the Best Abstract in the Professional Sales and Sales Management Track of the Atlantic Marketing Conference. Their presentation was entitled “Emotional Intelligence Training for Salespeople and Sales Managers.”
*Faculty members were honored with a special Pandemic Service Ribbon by Citadel president, Gen. Glenn M. Walters, USMC (Retired) for "exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding service during the challenging pandemic of COVID-19 in executing the duties of the college with excellence and perseverance."
* Two articles by Dr. Benjamin Dean have been published. "Antecedents enabling team ambidexterity: Moving beyond mere microfoundation" was published in the International Journal of Productivity and Performance Management. "Multiteam systems as integrated networks for engaging ambidexterity as dynamic capabilities" was published in the International Journal of Organization Theory & Behavior. Additionally, his article "Developing and leading ambidextrous teams: A team-centric framework of ambidexterity in volatile environments" was accepted by the Journal of Change Management: Reframing Leadership and Organizational Practice.
*Dr. Richard Ebeling delivered a talk at Hillsdale College for the student Praxis Club entitled "Why Socialism Will Not Bring Freedom, Prosperity, or Equality."
*Cadet Martynas Tendzegolskis participated in a summer program with the Hertog Foundation, a competitive opportunity that provided two weeks of study on American politics and economics in Washington, D.C.
*Alex Just, an accounting major in the Class of '20, graduated from the MAcc Valuation program at Vanderbilt University in May, and he recently passed all four parts of the CPA exam. He also passed the CFA level 1 exam.
*SSgt Barry Morehart, a Supply Chain Management major, is one of the recipients of the Margaret A. Patrick & W. Don Welch International Trade Scholarships. He was chosen based on his outstanding academic performance, his honors and activities, and his letter of recommendation.
