Upcoming Township Committee Meeting
Wednesday, October 20

The Township Committee will hold its next Regular Meeting this Wednesday at 7:00pm. The meeting will be held virtually via Zoom Meetings as has been the practice since the start of the pandemic. The agenda can be found here:

At each of our Township Community we honor a member of the public or a group for their accomplishments, contributions, or volunteer work. This past month we recognized all of our municipal employees who assisted the community during Hurricane Ida – and there were many that deserved recognition! We also honored an Eagle Scout for his service project to benefit our community.  Please join us this Wednesday to see who we are honoring this month!

Morris Township Regular Meeting -- September 14, 2021
The Township Committee held a regular monthly meeting on September 14. The agenda for this meeting can be found here:
https://www.morristwp.com/AgendaCenter/ViewFile/Agenda/_09142021-1223

As a reminder, video recordings of each of our Township Committee meetings can be found on Morris Township’s YouTube page:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCxS482suIq4FW35sWpcQEiQ/videos

The meeting opened up with a moment of silence for a municipal employee who suddenly passed. You can read the resolution honoring him HERE.

At many of our monthly meetings we honor people from our community for the good work they do either as volunteers or in other ways that they help the community.  Last month we recognized all of our municipal employees who assisted the community during Hurricane Ida – and there were many that deserved recognition! We also honored an Eagle Scout for his service project to benefit our community. He was presented with this proclamation.

There was also a recognition of September as National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and I read the following proclamation into the record:

ORDINANCES
At the September 14 meeting there no ordinances for introduction and just one ordinance for final consideration. Read the full text of this ordinance here:
https://www.morristwp.com/DocumentCenter/View/8535/09-14-21-ORD-ADOPTIO

  • Note from Jeff:
This ordinance established a brand new Senior Citizen Advisory Committee. Applications for membership on the committee are now being accepted by the municipal clerk. This is yet another example of how our Township Committee is working to increase involvement by our residents in how our town is run.

RESOLUTIONS
The meeting then continued with the Township Committee voting on 14 RESOLUTIONS. The full text of each resolution can be found here:
https://www.morristwp.com/DocumentCenter/View/8536/09-14-21-RESOLUTIONS

REPORTS FROM STANDING COMMITTEES
Next up were reports from our Standing Committees (varying combinations of two members from the Township Committee are assigned to various operating functions within the municipality to provide oversight), followed by individual commentary by each member of the Township Committee. The meeting concluded with “public inquiry” from our residents. You can listen to all this commentary by clicking on the video link below.

VIDEO recordings of Township Committee meetings are available on the Township’s website!. You can find the link on the municipal website’s “agenda center” (click on the camera icon) OR you can go directly to the YouTube channel:

Morris Township has Two Special Halloween Activities!

  • Family movie night is this Saturday October 23 at Ginty Field.  Join us for our Big Screen Outdoor feature, “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. Bring your chairs & blankets and enjoy this classic movie on a cool October's eve. The movie starts at dusk but come early to enjoy some games and DJ music.

  • The annual “Trunk or Treat” event will be held on Saturday October 30 on Dwyer Lane. Trunk-or-Treating, an event hosted by the Parks and Recreation, Police, and Fire Dept, is an evening full of activities, fun, and most importantly, treats! If you would like to register your car, please sign up thru Community Pass. All candy must be prepackaged available for contact-free distribution. Contact our Parks & Recreation Department for more info on either event.

Seasonal Leaf Collection Has Begun
Morris Township’s annual leaf collection program will start this week. The Township is broken up into three (3) sectors for this service; this year collection will begin with sector #3. Click here to find your sector. The DPW asks that residents place materials out for collection utilizing these guidelines. Please place the leaves at the curb of your property; DO NOT pile your leaves in the street. Leaves left in the street can wash away and clog storm drains, which could then cause flooding.

Jeff Grayzel is Running for State Senator!
I am honored to be your mayor in Morris Township and so proud of our accomplishments the past 3 years in our town. Those of you who know me well understand that I am a true public servant who is doing his job as mayor to make our town a better place for all of us. I am an engineer that uses a problem-solving solutions-oriented approach to make significant improvements to our community and saving taxpayer dollars

In this year’s election I am aiming to take that approach to governing to my run for State Senate in Legislative District 25.  New Jersey has a lot of problems and we can use an engineer in a state leadership role to start implementing lasting solutions and make our state more affordable — just as we keep Morris Township affordable.

Read more about why I Am Running HERE.

I’m also running because we need leaders who prioritize solutions over petty politics and have a singular focus on problem solving in Trenton.

Campaigns (unfortunately) cost a lot of money to run. My campaign needs your help! Please consider a donation to help me get my message out to more residents in the next couple of weeks. You can make a donation to support my campaign HERE
