Farm News
The Farm Stand will be open 3-6 p.m. again this week. The online store is up and running this week, so you can choose to order there and pickup at the farm. If it's not working, try again later. We will also allow walk-up customers that would like to pay onsite. We prefer credit card but will have the cash register available for cash or checks.
We are busy putting the farm to bed and have started the annual compost applications. Yesterday the beds for fall garlic planting were prepped and we hope to have the garlic seeded tomorrow ahead of the next round of rain. Garlic is always fall planted to allow the bulbs to form healthy root systems over the winter. It takes some time to identify the correct location for the garlic and next years onions so we can start marking out the fields for next season's crops. After we get compost spread on the other fields, the winter cover crop can be seeded to help protect the open soil and build organic matter for next years crops.
And, another reminder to get your bulk orders in! We are on track to finish the farm stand on the 29th of this month. Check the online store for the latest offerings or feel free to email me to put in your order. OR, we can usually put together orders at the stand on Fridays if it's not too busy. We love to see households putting extra storage crops away for the winter and tracking how much you use. Give it a try and find out how many pounds of potatoes you eat over the winter!
