Hello again everyone...

The start of Autumn usually sees me leading a group of people through a week of delicious creativity and gentle movement in Spain, building their own personal growth and community. It is the culmination of months of planning and a flow of design and ideas, sparks and themes.

A beautiful and creative experience for everyone involved.
Having navigated the roller coaster of 2020, and the stuttering hopefulness of 2021, it is perhaps not surprising that many of us are feeling the artistry of our practice is lack lustre…in need of some tenderness or care… deserving of some time and deeper consideration.

It is with curious attention that I look towards my next Retreat plans (see below)- and an allowance for creativity to grow and blossom… in its own time.

These past months I have been feeling exactly this turning inwards: a lessening desire for social interactions, content to see what happens, what will unfold - to go forward if the door is open rather than push it wide.

And with the abundance of this season, the turn into the dark and the welcoming anchoring of the ground, I am feeling the breath slow and the return to a quieter rhythm.

This, I have learned, is okay… that there are many others who feel The Slowing - that the trees themselves eat their vibrancy and shed themselves of what they don’t need anymore - in a colourful display and vibrant waste.
Soon, I will open my new Pilates Equipment Studio, allowing me more time to play and dive into the Classical work. More time to see what reveals itself in both my own body and with my clients and students. The whole body connection that the equipment allows, gifts new experiences for the body; and with that perhaps a creative warmth may reveal and expand itself. I’m hoping so…

In the meantime, there’s no push or striving, no high energy of passion to drive things forward… just some faith in the future and that all will spiral around again, in its own time.

Perhaps for you too?

With good wishes,

Kirsty

CLASSICAL PILATES
For Pilates Enthusiasts and those of us who want to get
stronger!

As well as our regular contemporary classes, I am delighted to offer a NEW way to practice Pilates, either online or in person.

Classical Pilates is generally thought to be closest to the way Joseph Pilates originally meant Pilates to be taught - a “system” with sequence and progression: each movement building your strength, balance and focus to more complex and challenging moves.

You will learn how to uniformly develop your body, challenge your coordination, sweat a little and ultimately “own” your own practice. This self agency will teach you independence of mind and of your own physical development.

Always Coming Home

Please bring strange things.
Please come bringing new things.
Let very old things come into your hands.
Let what you do not know come into your eyes. Let desert sand harden your
feet.
Let the arch of your feet be the mountains.
Let the paths of your fingertips be your maps and the ways you go be the lines
on your palms. Let there be deep snow in your inbreathing and your outbreath be the shining of ice.
May your mouth contain the shapes of strange words. May you smell food
cooking you have not eaten. May the spring of a foreign river be your navel.
May your soul be at home where there are no houses. Walk carefully, well
loved one, walk mindfully, well loved one, walk fearlessly, well loved one.
Return with us, return to us, be always coming home.

Beetroot and Walnut Delight

As Root vegetables and nuts are great in both health and abundance at this time of year; here is a wonderful (and SUPER EASY) way to bring more veggies into your day. One of my favourite recipes from the wonderful Janice at Nourished by Nature. See full recipe here

Ingredients
• Pack of vacuum packed beetroot (250 to 300g)
• ½ cup walnuts
• 1 tablespoon tahini
• 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
• 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
• 1 clove garlic or fermented garlic
• sea salt to taste

Simply add all the ingredients to a blender or food processor and blitz until
blended. A hand held stick blender works well too. Transfer to the fridge and
enjoy.

MOVEMENT FOCUS from the Online Library

Going over on your ankles? Need "supportive shoes"? The most frequent injury in ankles can be avoided by looking at how you move and where you move from.

Do you have the full range of movement available to you in each joint. or are
other joints compensating and needing orthotic support? Would you like to
improve your sports and avoid injury?

There are many rotations in a body but are they all available to you? If one
piece of the body does not move well (or to it's full potential) then it starts to
rely on the other parts - and they may not be designed to do that job. Ouch...

This class will help you find where the tensions and relationships lie and how
to start to teach the tissue and persuade the bones - so you can use your
body more fully. And importantly, spread the loads across the body rather than
relying on the same parts all the time; or having compression and tension
imbalances.
