UPDATES
Hello all! hope u had a good halloween and October. Going to take a break from 'photos taken while working' in this one. I'll share a previous project that I was working through this time last year.  I was processing through it and made the mistake of submitting it as a proposal. It kind of felt like it ended there even though it was a proposed continued series. It followed a common mistake I make of tying the validity of a project to outside sources. So ultimately when the proposal didn't get accepted I kind of stopped thinking about the project as something worthwhile. I know artists know, but even anyone who's applied to a school, or job knows that rejection is killer. Especially when it's so separate from yourself, just sending out a pdf to an email and getting back a mass rejection message. But I think I'm currently in a place where I don't really care about being rejected from open calls or proposals, I'm ready to get rejected I'm ready to just send shit out there and try and get some free money or film or space. I think through using this to hear from you all, and reaching out to other people has helped me overcome this thought process a little, and using these newsletters to discover trends in my photography, interact with people directly, write about my thoughts and work, has helped put things into perspective bit by bit every time. So if you want to support/help me out with this please ask about buying a print! I don't really have a standardized pricing system really just cover costs and make a couple bucks. Thank you newsletter subscribers you are all so incredible and i love u all <3

NEW PHOTOS

PREVIOUS PROJECT
If you were following me on instagram, there was a stretch of time I was uploading a lot of black and white pictures of me, Haley, Cleo, and just stuff around our house. I was doing this sort of ritualistic weekly photoshoot where I would shoot a roll of 120 film just around the house or on a walk, and develop and scan it all at home. I went out of my way to record things like routines, where items would accumulate, the objects we used, a moment of nice lighting entering the living room, and some fabricated scenes drawing attention to an object or us. I would often try to include some sort of 'family portrait' using a cable release. I think this project became so tightly associated with winter, using the time indoors to explore our surroundings and habits. I think these were the photos I chose to use in the submission. like 12 out of maybe 195 photos (15 photos a week for 13 weeks about) Ive been thinking about it more as I havent used my medium format camera in awhile and as the weather gets colder, so maybe I'll pick it back up this winter.
as always thank u for reading, thank you for emailing me back, thank you for apporaching me in person, thank you for participating in these newsletters Ive really been looking forward to making them each time its still fun. I need to look at alternatives to mail chimp, but I think Id send out a warning email if I was going to switch something like that up.. thanks again u all rock!  <3
