>> Book your tickets here

Come along to the free and family-friendly debut live screening of Call of the Silent Cell, a new short film by artist duo boredomresearch

In Call of the Silent Cell, boredomresearch lluminate links between human and environmental health and reflect on the latest insights revealed by single cell analysis. Viewers are taken on a journey through a forest with an old man who encounters a storm not of breath and air but of cells and their signals revealing a disturbance in the body, an immune system in overdrive..

The film has been commissioned for the
One Cell At A Time exhibition which uses artworks and creative learning projects to explore the science of the Human Cell Atlas, as well as public attitudes to body, tissue and data donation for research. This exhibition will be available to view online 29th Oct - 30th Nov at www.onecellatatime.org.

EXHIBITION PREVIEW >> ONE CELL AT A TIME

Thursday 28 October, 5pm | Online
>> Book your tickets here

One Cell At A Time is an online exhibition bringing together thirteen newly commissioned artworks and creative learning projects that are inspired by the work of the Human Cell Atlas, a global scientific research initiative that aims to map every cell type in the human body as a basis for both understanding human health and for diagnosing, monitoring and treating disease.

The exhibition's artworks have been created through virtual collaborations between visual and digital artists, inventors, designers, poets and dancers, members of the the HCA, local communities and schoolchildren across the United Kingdom throughout 2020 and 2021. Together, they creatively explored and responded to the science of the HCA initiative, as well public attitudes towards body, tissue and data donation for research.

Join this free online exhibition preview to experience the work in action!

The exhibition will also be available at

WINDOW EXHIBITION >> ELDER VERNACULAR

18 October - 7 November | 51 Between Towns Road OX4 3LR

Elder Vernacular is a research project by artist Nor Greenhalgh in collaboration with Fig that is compiling a palette of art materials grounded in the East Oxford landscape. They are interested in the rediscovery of a visual 'vernacular' in the contemporary context of COVID and climate change, which have both encouraged city dwellers to embrace their immediate local surroundings for both their psychological and physical wellbeing.

Come and view the Elder Vernacular exhibition in the window of 51 Between Towns Road to discover the artwork and materials that have been developed as part of the project. The show features experiments and art produced in workshops with Restore's Elder Stubbs Recovery Group and includes natural inks, paints and sculpture materials all sourced from the East Oxford landscape. Free and available to visit at any time.

On Sunday 7th November 11am - 4pm at Elder Stubbs Allotments OX4 3LB, Nor is running an artmaking retreat day for you to explore the local environment and learn how to make your own biodegradable paints and sculpture using locally sourced natural materials.
