Good afternoon EDS Community,

The Head of School Search Committee wanted to provide you with the following information regarding our finalist visit to Augusta this week.

Please find below a brief bio regarding our finalist, Jay Berckley, who will be on campus tomorrow and Friday, October 21st and 22nd.

Dr. Jay Berckley serves as Dean of Arts and Innovation at Episcopal High School in Bellaire (Houston), Texas. Episcopal is one of Houston’s largest schools, and Jay’s responsibilities span grades 9-12 and include technology as well as the arts. Episcopal has four “pillars” - academics, arts, faith, and athletics - with a dean overseeing each.

Prior to joining Episcopal in 2012, Jay was the division director for fine arts, curriculum development and programming for the Meritas Family of International Schools. His responsibilities there spanned Preschool - 12th grade for seven schools. He also served as division director for fine arts and music for 4th - 12th grade at Horace Mann School, one of the top independent schools in New York City.

A graduate of the University of Michigan with both a B.A. and an M.A. in music, Jay earned his Ed.D. degree in Professional Leadership of K-12 education from the University of Houston. Jay has his own consulting business and has spoken broadly on leadership development including at the NAES bi-annual conference.

Jay is married to Monica, who is the director of development at the Fay School in Houston. They have three daughters, one in college, one in high school, and one in middle school.
