This month's issue of Connections coincides with LGBT History Month: a time to acknowledge the contributions made by LGBT individuals toward expanding gay rights and civil rights. At Jesuit colleges and universities, many faculty and staff are leading the way toward creating campuses that are increasingly welcome to students who identify as members of the LGBT community.

In its newly revised mission statement, the University of San Francisco includes sexual orientation and gender as two of the many identities of community members that are now acknowledged and affirmed publicly. As a student at Marquette University, Nora McCaughey has seen this implemented in myriad ways, including the programs and initiatives sponsored by Marquette's LGBTQ+ Resource Center.
Government Relations
In late September, the Biden Administration issued a notice of proposed rulemaking on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. AJCU's Vice President of Government Relations provides an update on what this means for DACA recipients, including students at Jesuit colleges and universities.
