Yesterday, new commitments were made by stakeholders across the garment industry in Jordan as part of a new agenda to advance decent work by digitizing payments responsibly.
The reality in Jordan is that every month, an estimated two-thirds of the 76,000 garment workers still receive their wages in cash.
Digitizing wages not only provides companies with opportunities for enhanced productivity, efficiency and transparency, it is also an important step toward increasing financial account use and greater financial capability, especially for women who make up 73 percent of Jordan’s garment workers.
