A Golden Opportunity

Leave Your Comfort Zone  |  Kaupapa Kāinga - Kia Waewae Kai Kapua

It’s that exciting time of year for our Gold participants. Are you ready to broaden your horizons and challenge your outlook on life? It’s time to test out the skills you’ve developed through the Award with your Residential Project.

Your chance to handcraft an experience around your passions.
Think outside of the box! If there's an organisation or industry that you're particularly passionate about, research their conference/event calendar's and volunteer with them for a week. Maybe your business savvy brain would thrive at a Brave Thinkers Camp or pitching a new product idea at NZ Business Week. Or, you might wish to connect with the tuakana (elders) in your community and volunteer in your local resthome for a week.

Keep in mind that you may already be taking part in an activity that qualifies as a Residential Project. For example, a national Sports Competition or time dedicated to supporting your community during COVID. To discover if what you have in mind meets our criteria, click the button below to follow our Residential flowchart.

NEED SOME IDEAS?

We know that selecting an activity for your Residential Project can be tricky. So, we've put together a list of some of the incredible options that Aotearoa has to offer.

COVID ADAPTIONS

In response to continued lockdown restrictions, we have made further temporary adaptions to the Award. Click the video below to learn how the changes will help you keep working towards your Award.

KEY RESIDENTIAL PROJECT ADAPTION:
As you know, Residential Projects can consist of two activities that take place over two seperate weekends (as long as the weekends occur within a 12 month period). If you are struggling to find similar activities, we will now allow you to select two different activities.

MEET OUR NEW PROVIDERS

We're pleased to welcome MERC (life changing marine environmental education and outdoor experiences - based in Auckland) and Brave Thinkers (an opportunity presented by NZ Business Week that gives you the chance to look at new business models, meet business people, be inspired and challenged) onto our AAP team. Make sure you check out the opportunities they have on offer.

Grant Opportunity: FMC'S Youth Award Grant

Are you currently planning an Adventurous Journey or Expedition for your Award? Would a cash grant help you have an experience that you will remember for the rest of your life? FMC's Youth Award Grant could be the support you need. Keep in mind that you'll need to dedicate some time to preparing your application, we'd reccomend around 2 - 3 weeks to
craft the best possible application.
Next application deadline = November 15th
