2030 In Sight

In an important milestone for the sector, we recently released our new 10-year strategy 2030 In Sight: Ending Avoidable Sight Loss. This comes at a crucial time not only for our sector but for the wider health and development community.

Over the past two decades we have seen extraordinary progress under VISION 2020: The Right to Sight and some tangible successes built on a foundation of collective action. Today, we are facing a myriad of interrelated global challenges.

This strategy was created by the sector, for the sector. It follows months of consultations with hundreds of experts from across the IAPB membership. We would like to thank all of you for your invaluable input which has got us to where we are today. It is, we hope, a document which we can be proud of. But more importantly we hope it is a strategy which we can all work together to deliver - read the full post.


Implementing 2030 In Sight in Africa

The IAPB Africa Team will be holding virtual sessions on the 2030 In Sight strategy in November. The sessions will cover how the strategy was developed and look at how it can be implemented in the Africa region. If you would like to participate in one of these sessions, please reach out to the IAPB Regional Coordinator for Africa, Simon Day at sday@iapb.org

World Sight Day 2021: Celebrating success
WSD 2021 was a big success. The response to the Everyone Counts Global Challenge exceeded all expectations. Countless numbers of screenings and events were held across the globe.

In Africa, in addition to the screening at Mwanza, multiple activities took place such as in the Hwange region in Zimbabwe where over 4,500 children were screened, at Nurses Hostel Gardens at Mulago Hospital in Uganda where the Makerere University Optometry students and lecturers participated in a screening...
