The Cato Institute has released a detailed report with a series of recommendations on how to reduce poverty and inequality in the Golden State. These comprehensive recommendations include proposals on how to make housing more affordable and how to deal with the state’s homeless crisis; reforming the criminal justice system; expanding educational freedom and choice; changing the way social welfare benefits are delivered; and removing regressive regulatory barriers to job creation and entrepreneurship.
This conference will bring together a diverse group of political, business, and academic leaders to respond to Cato’s recommendations and offer their own ideas for dealing with poverty. Panels will examine the legislative prospects for reform, as well as local efforts and involvement.
