DUT’S DIGIFEST AIMS TO SHARE IDEAS OF INNOVATION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP
The exciting 8th edition of the Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Arts and Design Digital Festival (DigiFest08) and 7th Annual Postgraduate Research Conference officially began on Tuesday, 19 October 2021 via Microsoft Teams.
Both hosted by the Faculty of Arts and Design (FoAD), the events will run virtually until today, Thursday 21 October 2021. The festival aims to stimulate collaborative practices (creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship) in art, design, and technology.
DUT RETAINS ITS TOP 100 RATING IN THE UNIVERSITIES IN EMERGING ECONOMIES
The Durban University of Technology (DUT) has retained its Top 100 rating in the Times Higher Education (THE) Emerging Economies World University Rankings 2022, which were announced at the THE Emerging Economies Summit in London, on Tuesday, 19 October 2021.
DUT was named in the Top 100 of universities in emerging economies for the second consecutive year. This global ranking is evidence that DUT continues to strive for excellence regionally, nationally, in the African continent and across the globe. It is a great honour for DUT, since innovative curricula and research is one of the enabling strategic objectives of the University’s ENVISION 2030 strategy, of improving lives and livelihoods.
DUT’S WEBINAR EXPLORES THE IMPORTANCE OF DECOLONISATION AND HOW THIS PROCESS CAN BE TAKEN FORWARD AT RESPECTIVE WRITING CENTRES
The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Writing Centre recently hosted the Decolonisation of Writing Centre Spaces Webinar on Microsoft Teams.
Giving the opening remarks was DUT’s Writing Centre’sDr Nereshnee Govender who thanked all the attendees for making time to be part of the webinar and to share in this important conversation on Decolonisation in Higher Education.
The welcome address was given by Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching and Learning, Professor Nokuthula Sibiya.
DUT HOSTS PRINCIPALS AND LIFE ORIENTATION EDUCATORS WORKSHOP
To build mutually beneficial collaborations, the Durban University of Technology (DUT) hosted the Principals and Life Orientation (LO) Educators Workshop both on Microsoft Teams and at the Drakensburg Hotel on Wednesday, 13 October 2021.The workshop consisted of 45 principals and LO educators hosted at the venue.
Facilitating the proceedings of the workshop was Zwakele Ngubane, Director: Advancement and Alumni Relations at DUT. He mentioned that despite the havoc caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, education continues, stating that DUT ensures this through online teaching and learning.
