Legacy Plaque at the Sechelt Seniors Activity Centre

The 28 panel solar array that the Sunshine Coast Community Solar Association installed on the roof of the Sechelt Seniors Centre in March 2020 has so far produced 18.2MWh of electricity and saved them $2,275 on the cost of their energy. This was a project to honour the late James Pawley, a SCCSA board member. Dr. Pawley was active not only in the SCCSA but also in his ongoing attempts to encourage people to take the climate emergency seriously. With COP26 looming, i'ts a good time to reflect on this legacy.

Sechelt SPCA Update - Rob Lindskog from the BCSPCA says they are excited to have their first solar-powered animal shelter, thanks to 10-year-old fundraiser Cody Kelso and support from the Sunshine Coast Community Solar Association, the Sunshine Coast Community Forest Legacy Fund and the Sunshine Coast Credit Union. Lindskog says, “The BC SPCA helps more than 97,000 animals in need each year in our province, so not only are we able to be more environmentally responsible, but the money we are saving on energy costs can now be used to help more abused, neglected and injured animals.” They plan to use their experience on the Sunshine Coast in other BC SPCA shelters across the province.

The SC Community Solar Association relies on the support of its membership. The $20 membership taken out now will cover you until the end of 2022. Please consider becoming a member or renew your membership by following the membership link at  https://suncoastcommsolar.weebly.com

This from Norway: “In July, electrified vehicles (EVs, plug-in hybrids, hybrids) accounted for more than 90% of new car sales, and the Norwegian Automobile Federation predicts that sales of gas cars could dwindle to almost zero by April 2022”. Here's the link:
