Greetings, fine families of ECS!

 

The school year is well underway and we are settling into our regular work of the year. As usual, there have been many kind people who have offered help, and we are very grateful for that. Mobilizing help is no small task, but we are up for it! Our volunteer opportunities are becoming more clear, and we would love to begin plugging people into the places that would bless our school community, and hopefully bless our volunteers as well.

 

Given the different gifting and availability of our volunteers, I’d like to give an overview of the areas where we could use help. At this point we have five categories, with a variety of jobs falling under each heading. Some of the jobs are consistent and regular needs, while some are as-needed.

 

Facilities Help

• Bathrooms Cleaned and Stocked M-W (Table Building)
• Spot Vacuuming M-W (Main Building/Table Building)
• Garbages Out M-W (Main Building/Table Building)

 

Class/Student Help (Engaging with students in various capacities)

• Reading Groups
• Listening for Memory Work
• Music Class (M/T/Th, 5th Period-Secondary)
• Art Class (W)
• Playground Supervision (1st Recess 10:40-11:00, 2nd Recess 1:00-1:20)
• Morning Supervision (before school, 1st and 2nd period)
• Field Trip Chaperone

 

Teacher Support

• Copies
• Grading

Substitute Help

• Subbing (above-mentioned jobs when needed)
• Teaching (when a teacher calls in sick, etc.)

 

Hospitality Help (Coordinating, set up, clean up)

• Classroom Mom/Dad (First line of help for classroom needs)
• Events During School (Beginning/End of Year BBQ, Reformation Day, Christmas Feast, Rhetoric Tournament, etc)
• Evening Events (Concerts, Information Night, Fundraising Feast, Graduation)
• Extra Events (Fiction Festival, Fundraising Feast)
