SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP

Let's Talk: Breaking the Silence

Rev. Andrew Westerveld

There’s a time to keep silence, and a time to speak. Last week, we gained wisdom to discern times for silence. This week, Moses’ prophetic call helps us as Christ’s people identify ways we are called to speak and to break the silence.

Exod 3:1-12; 4:10-12
Now Moses was keeping the flock of his father-in-law, Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led his flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. And the angel of the LORD appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush. He looked, and behold, the bush was burning, yet it was not consumed. And Moses said, “I will turn aside to see this great sight, why the bush is not burned.” When the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called to him out of the bush, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.”

SUNDAY EVENING WORSHIP

Let's Talk: Gossip

Rev. Larry Westerveld

Did you hear about..?

We know it when we hear it. We agree it can be destructive. We might even agree it’s a sin. But then we come to realize the term, “gossip” resists a simple definition. Join us Sunday night as we continue in our sermon series on sanctified communication and as we pursue our goal of becoming more like Jesus Christ in the ways we speak.

Proverbs 11:12-13  (NIV); 18:6-8 (ESV); 20:19 (NIV)
Whoever derides their neighbor has no sense,
but the one who has understanding holds their tongue.

A gossip betrays a confidence,
but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.
