Like gratitude, resilience can be learned and we can take steps to develop it in ourselves and most importantly in our children.

As we continue through this year together and unpack our theme “It’s GROW Time,” we took the first quarter to focus on gratitude, the first letter in our GROW acronym. Teachers and staff have engaged with this topic in the “classrooms” and in other ways and I hope the weekly articles about gratitude have been helpful and encouraging.

This next quarter we move on to the topic of “resilience.” As with all four of the topics in our theme, this one relates very much to the pandemic and what we and our children have experienced over the last 18+ months.

To put it succinctly, being resilient is the ability to “bounce back” from problems and setbacks that come our way. The good news is that, like gratitude, resilience can be learned and we can take steps to develop it in ourselves and most importantly in our children.

Throughout this quarter we will focus in on resilience together and learn what it means to be able to “bounce back.”

Have a Great Weekend,

Annual Fund

本年度寄金募集活動

We have reached the halfway point of the Annual Fund and have already raised RM52,300! Our goal is to raise RM175,000, so we need your help. Annual Fund projects enrich the learning experience for students at Dalat by providing resources like robotics kits, new middle school lockers, furniture for the Learning Lab, and more!

Our world is becoming increasingly technological, and skills in robotics and programming are highly valued. With top-of-the-line robotics kits, high school students can learn valuable, real-world skills with equipment that is standard across the world. High School Robotics kits will cost RM20,000 and will offer important hands-on experience for our students. Click here to learn more about this project and to donate.

When Harbor Hall was completed, Dalat gained a beautiful space to hold chapels, concerts, plays, and more. The Harbor Hall auditorium allows students to organize quality productions and learn about planning and hosting events. Lighting plays an important part in any event, and the right equipment goes a long way. With a new light board controller for Harbor Hall, students can train with professional light systems and gain valuable experience for exciting career prospects. We are asking for RM7,500 for the Harbor Hall Light Board Controller to host quality events and help students learn real-world marketable skills. Click here to learn more and donate to this project.

The health and safety of the Dalat community is very important to us. As we get ready to welcome students back and look forward to the possibility of allowing parents and the community on campus one day, an additional automated external defibrillator (AED) is an important step to preparing our campus. AEDs are used all over the world and can save the life of someone experiencing cardiac arrest. While Dalat has one AED already, an additional AED stored in a separate location can save precious seconds in a medical emergency. An AED is a device we hope to never use, but can make a life-saving difference in the case of an emergency. We are asking for RM5,600 for an additional AED, which is an important health and safety measure for our community. Click here to learn more and donate to this project.

Stay tuned for more exciting ways to get involved with the Annual Fund!

School SOPs
학교 SOP
学校SOP政策
学校でのSOP

As we gradually have students return to face-to-face learning, there are many SOPs set in place by the Malaysia Ministry of Education. We want to make you aware of the responsibilities of parents listed in the SOPs.

1. Sign the consent form for students who are ill to be given a COVID-19 test by the school nurse. This is a requirement in the SOP. You can find the consent form in the Parent Portal section of PowerSchool

2. Keep kids home who are sick. Dalat is required to give a COVID-19 test to any student who shows symptoms at school. We are then required to report any positive cases. Please do not send your child to school if they have any symptoms at all.

3. Make sure your child wears a face mask to school at all times. Please encourage them to follow social distancing and other requirements.

4. Drop your child off and pick them up at the designated times. Campus will be open to students only during school hours.

Additional information about procedures when students or families are diagnosed with COVID-19 are included in this link. Thank you for your cooperation.

Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) is a time to focus and center ourselves on who God is and what He desires for our lives. SEW takes place during the first semester of every school year.

This year, elementary school students will learn about “God at Work” during Spiritual Emphasis Week October 26–29. Students will discover that construction sites are exciting places, filled with interesting, heavy machinery and abuzz with noise and activity. With God in our lives, He begins a good work in us. We become the construction site where God builds something amazing! Kids will learn that God works in the hearts of those who follow Him.

Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) is a time to focus and center ourselves on who God is and what He desires for our lives. SEW takes place during the first semester of every school year.

Middle school students will learn about the Names of God during Spiritual Emphasis Week (SEW) in the first week of November. During SEW, students will discover that God did something special for His people in Exodus: He revealed Himself to them. He shared who He was with them. We’ll take a look at the names of God in the book of Exodus, and explore what those names say about God’s character and His relationship with His people.
