Stay safe during half term
Half term is here and Cornwall Council's public health team are reminding residents, businesses and visitors to protect themselves and each other during the break.
👏 Hands – wash with soap and water or sanitise regularly
😷 Face - thank you to everyone who is still wearing a face covering
👈👉 Space – keep your distance from people where possible and avoid crowds
💨 Freshair - be outdoors as much as possible or in well-ventilated areas and check out Visit Cornwall for fun outdoor activities
🚙 Test - if you're going away for half term use Lateral Flow Tests (LFT) regularly in the week before you set off and don’t travel if you have symptoms or test positive
👉 If you feel unwell with classic Covid symptoms, get a PCR test
👉 If you feel ill but aren’t sure if it’s Covid you can now get a PCR test even if you don't have the three main symptoms
👉 If you feel unwell please limit your contact with other people and book a PCR test on the GOV.uk website.
Test if you're not sure whether it's a cold or covid
Winter is coming
Protect yourself by getting vaccinated against Covid and flu and taking regular Covid tests. And if you develop cold symptoms and are unsure if it's Covid or not, you can now get a PCR test.
It's easy for us to pass on Covid-19 or flu viruses without knowing. Find out if you're eligible for these two essential vaccines now at nhs.uk/wintervaccinations
🛎️ Cornwall's care providers are recruiting now across a range of social care roles and want to hear from you urgently❕
Many entry-level roles don’t require previous experience and providers would welcome the skills of those who have previously worked in other sectors. There are also vacancies in supporting roles such as cooks and kitchen staff
❤️ If you’ve got a passion for helping others, a caring nature and like working with people, get in touch today. ❤️
📍 This half-term, why not explore somewhere you’ve not been before in Cornwall? 🗺️ 🧭
Check out the ‘Discover our towns’ section on the Welcome Back Fund webpage on our website.
There’s lots of up-to-date information about so many interesting local high streets - you might be surprised at how much there is to see and do. The Welcome Back Fund is funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
⛹️ 🚴♀️ Calling all sport, physical activity and cultural providers including community halls, schools, coaches and private providers.
Would you like to deliver paid and funded activity on the Time2Move Holiday Programme this Christmas?
The Time2Move Holiday programme offers fun engaging activity with a free meal for all children and aims to support children and families who may be affected by the triple inequalities of social isolation, poor diet and low levels of physical activity.
We’re inviting providers of activities including those with suitable spaces i.e. schools/community halls to come forward and offer their services where funding is available to support providers.

It’s not too late to have your say about proposed changes to the operation of leisure centres in Cornwall.
The pandemic has had a devastating impact on the leisure sector across the country, and the loss of income due to the pandemic is having a long term impact on how leisure services in Cornwall can be provided in future.
We want to hear your views and how you might be affected by our proposals.
🎃 Cornwall throws away around 125 tonnes of fancy dress costumes after Halloween each year. 💀🦇 🕷️ 🧹
Before buying a new costume, help save your pennies and the environment by reusing or adapting old costumes or setting up a spooky swap shop with other parents to find a pre-loved one.
👻 See what’s lurking in your cupboards before buying new
👻 Adapt old costumes
👻 Take a peek in your local charity shops for inspiration
👻 Swap your spooky costume from last year with a friend or family member
👻 Make accessories such as brooms and hats from recyclable materials, rather than buying plastic ones
👻 Get creative and use face paint rather than buying masks that won’t get used again
