After Hours with Fund for the Arts

Every Wednesday from 5:30 - 6:30 pm Fund for the Arts offers After Hours, an opportunity to meet with a staff member at Fund for the Arts such as President & CEO Andre Kimo Stone Guess, Campaign Director Lucy Love, Director of Community Impact Sarah Lindgren, or Manager of Communications and Engagement Mollie LaFavers. Call for Murals in Louisville's California Niehgborhood
Center for Neighborhoods is assisting Louisville's California neighborhood in installing a mural or structural art project in the California Leisure Park through our P.A.I.N.T. (Producing Art In Neighborhoods Together) program.  They are holding their first community meeting to discuss possibilities for public art on October 28th at 6:00 pm at CA Liesure Park - 693 Dixie Highway. This project is part of the NEA Our Town Initiative, which is a partnership between Center for Neighborhoods, Fund for the Arts, Louisville Metro Government, and Louisville Public Media. The RFP for interested artists will be released soon. The final artist selected by the community will be given a$14,500 stipend to cover all materials, labor, and other costs. If you are interested in submitting a public art proposal you must be in attendance at the 10/28 meeting.

Essays on the Creatives Life
Sunspot Literary Journal is seeking articles, essays, even fiction and poems that offer advice and thoughts on the creative life related to any creative form. How-to, features, reports on current trends, commentaries, real experiences, and roundups are some of the areas accepted.

International Contest of Contemporary Art
The competition’s aim is to promote the enrolled artists, giving them chance to join the international market of contemporary art. All kinds of artworks are accepted, including video, installations and performances. All works will be presented by a picture or a video that must be followed by a description of the work. All works must be available for the final exhibition and have to be the artist’s property. The contest is open to all artists or groups of artists and professionals from any country.

Call for Sculptures - Reflections: African-American Voices Past and Present

Held in conjunction with the exhibition Reflections: African-American Voices Past and Present and during Black History month, the LASC is seeking sculptural and 2D art works created by regional African-American artists. This is a juried exhibition that will be presented in the LASC’s Atrium Gallery this January 21st through March 25th, 2022.

International Drawing Annual
The International Drawing Annual is open to any artist submitting original works of art or design created within the past three years (2019 - 2021). Artists, designers, illustrators, professionals, and students in ALL disciplines are encouraged to submit. Manifest is eager to receive works of drawing in a wide range of applications (technical, graphic, fine art, design, sketching, architectural, digital, illustration, etc.) with the qualification being that artwork submitted is representative of "drawing." Works that push the boundaries of what constitutes drawing are also encouraged and welcome.

Lucca Biennale Indoor 2022 - Paper, Art, Design
Lucca Biennale Cartasia is the world’s biggest art event dedicated to paper art. The Biennale takes place every two years, in 2022 it will be held from the 31st of July until September the 25th. The Indoor Exhibition will be composed of 3 main sectors: art, fashion, and performances. Every artist that creates art such as performances, sculptures, drawings, video-art, and much more with paper, cardboard, or its by-products is encouraged to participate in the call.

Auditions

Kentucky Shakespeare 2022 Spring Tour and Summer Season Open Auditions
2022 spring tour and summer season open auditions will be held November 6 and 8, 2021. To sign up for an audition time, please fill out this form. If you have questions, please email Amy Attaway, Associate Artistic Director. The spring tour is Julius Caesar. Rehearsals begin February 14 and the performances are various days and times through May 22. Rehearsals and performances occur on weekday daytimes and weekends.

The Kentucky Shakespeare Festival in Central Park will consist of three full-length Shakespeare plays, to be announced in early November. Rehearsals begin April 26 and performances are May 27-July 24. Please note rehearsals for the summer season are full time, 6 days a week.

Auditions: please prepare two contrasting Shakespeare monologues, not to exceed 3 minutes in length. Each audition slot will be 5 minutes, and we’ll hold callbacks on another day. Please submit a photo and resume by email or bring it with you on that day. We will practice social distancing and require masks when not performing. We will also accept video submissions.

Puffin's 2022 Annual Artist Grant Program
The Puffin Foundation will be accepting new proposals in the Fine Arts, Music, and Photography for their 2022 grant cycle. Applications in other disciplines will not be considered.  Please note that the primary focus of your proposal must be one of these three genres.  For example, please do not apply for a Music grant if the music is simply an accompanying score for a video or dance project.  Music, Photography, or Fine Arts must be the focus of your project. One exception is that we will also consider arts-related projects focusing on Environmental issues and the climate crisis confronting us all from other genres such as Theater.

21c Museum Hotel, Art Handler (Contract)
21c Museum Hotel seeks a contract, temporary Art Handler in assisting the 21c collections team with the movement of artworks, decorative art pieces, office furniture, supplies/materials. This includes lifting and moving artworks on and off trucks and trailers, and sorting and relocating items within the storage facility. This position may also be asked to assist with setting up workstations.

Frazier History Museum, Event Coordinator
This individual will work directly with contracted and potential clients to sell event space and ensure that all logistics and operational aspects of the events are communicated and fulfilled.  The Coordinator will act as a liaison between the client and Museum’s operational departments/vendors to ensure the implementation of successful facility rental events while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Kentucky Performing Arts, Event Manager
The Event Manager coordinates events, as assigned, from immediately after booking through settlement, including being the on-site contact for the client and internal resources during the actual event.  This position will collaborate with all performance execution departments to ensure client and artist needs are met while promoting high-quality patron experiences.

Kentucky Science Center, Early Childhood Educator
The Early Childhood Educator will engage visitors ages 0-8 and their caregivers in educational and entertaining programming. Educators will engage visitors in a variety of settings, but primarily in Kentucky Science Center’s first floor Science in Play galleries. This role also includes daily upkeep of the galleries and development of temporary displays and content. This role will work directly with education staff, volunteers, and department managers to demonstrate best practices in early childhood education.

Kentucky Science Center, Assembly Program Educator
As an Assembly Program Educator, you will engage participants of all ages in educational and entertaining science programming throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana. You will act as a representative of Kentucky Science Center (KSC), working directly with school/organization staff and local volunteers to ensure that program participants have an engaging and educational experience.

Speed Art Museum, Major Gifts Officer
As a senior member of the Advancement team, the Major Gifts Officer will develop, organize and cultivate donors and prospects who have the capacity to make significant multi-year investments. The Major Gifts Officer will manage planning, organizing, and events for several donor groups. The ideal candidate will be energetic and self-motivated with experience and success making direct solicitations, working with volunteers and staff across  the organization. The Major Gifts Officer creates compelling proposals, presentations, and materials to solicit and steward gifts. This position works closely with the Deputy Director, External Relations & Advancement and  the Director who will also maintain major donor portfolios.

Protecting Your Assets: Managing Legacy Materials for Performing Arts Organizations

Health and Safety for Performing Arts Organizations
Safety in the theatre extends to crews, casts, and audience members as well as the venue. This includes performance and rehearsal spaces, shops, and other work spaces. It requires awareness, common sense, and perseverance to eliminate hazards and guard against carelessness. The goal of this webinar is to ensure that a safe, healthy environment is maintained at all times. This includes the control and minimization of all known and potential hazards associated within creative, artistic, and performance development. These risks can be minimized and controlled through proper training, equipment, and use of appropriate precautions, restrictions, and established safe-work practices.
