Call for Proposals & Funding
The CBC/QWF Featured Columnist series is looking for a broad range of perspectives from new, up-and-coming voices!
To apply, writers must submit a 600-word nonfiction personal essay (in English) based on the theme of “Awakening.” Applicants do not have to be published writers. The series is open to all Quebec residents.
Five writers will be selected to have their essays featured on CBC Quebec’s website in 2022. The deadline to apply is December 22, 2021.

Exhibit in the woods : Rituals and Ceremonies by Gabriel Safdie
May 30th, 2021 TO April 30th, 2022
Description: The exhibit presents 49 vibrant photographs by artist Gabriel Safdie on 22 large panels. The panels focus on a selection of exemplary ceremonies and rituals that are still practised today in such countries as Myanmar, Thailand, India, and China—places I have had the privilege to visit and explore. These photographs are meant to celebrate the diversity and richness of these cultures at the same time as they call for a heartfelt expression of sympathy for all those who continue courageously to endure persecution and hardship within these countries. The large photo panels will transport you beyond our borders, from June 2021 to May 2022. The Rituals and Ceremonies Exhibit is presented within the wooded area of Uplands. It is accessible at all times (free admission).
About the artist:
Gabriel Safdie is a writer who taught literature and creative writing for years and is also involved in photography, theatre and music. He has shown largely in Canada and China, where he has some success. He is scheduled for further exhibits in Montreal and will show again in Dalian (China) in the coming year. The Centre des arts de Stanstead that he and his wife Eva Juul founded in 2008 includes the very successful community gallery Le vieux forgeron that promotes artists from Stanstead, the Townships and beyond.

We’re All In This Together is a collaboration between the English Language Arts Network and Seniors Action Quebec, and a community initiative to reach Quebec’s English-speaking seniors. This one-of-a-kind web-series has been designed by seniors, especially for seniors. Each bi-weekly episode is directed by Montreal-based, award-winning filmmaker Bobbi Jo Hart and features entertainment, activities and conversations designed to connect with those in need of support and empathy… with a gentle reminder that we are, indeed, all in this together. Episodes released so far can easily be found on YouTube (Search keys words “We’re All In This Together Senior Web Series”) and Facebook (Search "WereAllInThisTogetherQuebec"), and are available for anyone to enjoy.
