Lift Needed
Would anyone be able to give Matty a lift to Heathrow airport on Sunday morning - to arrive by about 11.15am although she is happy to get there earlier if necessary. She will pay for the fuel.  She's double vaccinated and has just recovered from Covid so shouldn't pose a risk to anyone she's in a car with! Please phone Rachel on 01480454736 or text Matty on 07462404183 asap if you can help.  Thank you.

A Message from Carolyn
Dear GBC family,
Thank you so much for your warm expressions of welcome.
As I mentioned at my induction service, I’ve appreciated the daily emails, letters, and cards from church members enormously as well as the kind wishes, gifts, flowers, offers of meals, walks and excursions etc. I feel totally spoilt and hugely undeserving!  I’m so grateful to God for leading me to such a loving and generous family and for the privilege of being part of a church that has such a big heart for the community too – you do a wonderful work. I’m loving life at GBC already and this is only the beginning! I’m excited about what God has for us in the future and I trust and pray that he will bind us tight together and use us to make a difference in this community and grow His kingdom. I’m grateful for all your prayers and support and a big thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make my induction day special.
Blessings to you all,
Carolyn Keats

The various Toolbox events continue. Details are available here.

On Thursday next week (4 November) the ‘Being Human’ Podcast starts. This is designed by the Evangelical Alliance to inspire and equip everyday Christians to understand, articulate and participate in the biblical vision of humanity. Listen to the podcast in advance of the discussion on Zoom, which starts at 8.00pm. Contact the office for the Zoom link.

And the Book Club starts on Friday next week (5 November) at 11.00am at GBC, at which we will be discussing Max Lucado’s new book “You Are Never Alone”, showing how you’re stronger than you think because God is nearer than you know.

Mark 4: 9 - Then Jesus said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.”

Do you glance rather than gaze?
Do you scroll rather than seek?
Do you visit rather than dwell?
Why not try Quiet Reflection?

CHRISTMAS SHOE BOXES

We will be preparing Christmas shoeboxes once again, but this year for an organisation called The Amen Trust, which provides gifts for all the family (parents and grandparents as well as children) in each box. AMEN is a Christian Charity that was set up in 1995 by Operation Mobilisation to channel resources to Christians who are working to make a difference in their own countries. They work particularly with partners in India, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Romania and Serbia.
Over the years support and donations have been used by God to bring great blessing to people, both practically and spiritually. Amen Trust currently send all completed Christmas shoeboxes to Romania, to be distributed by local Christians to gypsy and other needy families. This often opens doors to follow up visits by church members.

Click on this link to read/ hear more and see the impact of these gifts: Romanian Shoebox Appeal | Amen Trust

If you would like to fill a shoebox (no boot boxes please), then pick up a leaflet from the Church Office or download one from the above link. This will give detailed information about how to prepare your box as well as what to include and what to avoid! Please bring all completed shoeboxes to the church office by Friday 12 November, along with £2 per box for postage (if you are able) and ensure that each box has a filled in leaflet attached. Please only bring cash (no cheques) as we will aim to send one amount to Amen ministries to cover the cost of postage for all boxes from GBC. In this time of global need, let’s get packing and bless some families in Romania this Christmas!
While we hold some of our activities at GBC and Grace Fellowship, we need to continue to follow sensible guidelines about keeping ourselves and others safe. This includes asking people:
  • not to attend if they have Covid symptoms,
  • to sanitise hands on arrival and during their time on the premises, and
  • to wear a mask when moving around the building (can be removed when seated)
We will also have to limit numbers for capacity reasons and have implemented a booking system for our Sunday morning worship service. To book for this coming Sunday, use the link above. It may be that demand exceeds available spaces so those trying to book later may receive a 'full' response. We will try to manage this by asking people who are present one week to not book in for the following week until the Friday - to give others a chance to book spaces - BUT IF THERE ARE SPACES AVAILABLE ON FRIDAY, GO AHEAD AND BOOK.
For those unable to use online booking, please phone the church office on 01480 458565 from Tuesday morning and we can book your space for you.
The Churches Together AGM will take place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 17 November at the Methodist Church, Huntingdon, and it will include a tour of the new extension at the Methodist Church. All are welcome.
The Worship Area and Resources Room remain out of bounds while the building work continues. Please do not access GBC through the side entrance opposite Brian Searle's garage. In the event of an emergency and a need to vacate the building, exit through the fire door in the kitchen and make your way to the front car park - avoid using the fire door in the Worship Area foyer.
