"It's time to make a decision to do at least one of the things that will help reduce the spread of the virus, and we all know what they are – get vaccinated, wear a mask, social distance, and stay away from large indoor and outdoor gatherings." That's the call from Chris B. Bennett (pictured right), publisher of The Seattle Medium.

The effects of COVID continue, as we saw the passing this week of General Colin Powell due to the pandemic and his immunocompromised situation, plans to roll out the vaccine to kids 5-11 and the lingering issue on how Black communities will get equitable access.

And this week began jury selection of the trial of three men accused in the murder of Ahmaud Arbery. On the minds of many, will another Black man need to be proven innocent of running while Black, before white men can be found guilty of a modern-day, yet again, documented lynching?

Reporting on these issues and more takes community support, so become a founding member of Word In Black today and stand with our publishers and us as we continue to report on challenges, issues, and opportunities that face our communities.
