Great Library Baking Show
There’s a chill in the air and here at the library, it’s making us think about baking. Here are a few cookbook recommendations from our library staff:
Leanne Holdridge, Circulation Lead: I recommend the Mardi Gras Jambalaya recipe from The Ultimate Vegetarian Cookbook by Paul Gaylar. Been making this recipe for years! It's a very satisfying meal and it's good for you too!
Rachel McFall, Library Specialist: When you have the urge to visit Disney and can't, The Unofficial Disney Parks Cookbook by Ashley Craft will give you the taste of Disney at home. Our family made Gaston's Giant Cinnamon Rolls and Jack-Jack's Num Num Cookies - both were amazing!
Nancy Sagehorn, Library Specialist: I tried a recipe for sanshoku dango from the cookbook Mochi Magic by Kaori Becker. Mine came out a little mushy but it was worth a try! I was also at Little Bad Wolf in Chicago recently and tried their pork bao bun and the potato taco. Similar recipes for the taco can be found in our book 300 Best Taco Recipes by Kelley Cleary Coffeen. The Mitsitam Cafe Cookbook: Recipes from the Smithsonian National Museum of the American Indian also has yummy recipes to try out in your own kitchen.
Karina Zidon, Patron Services Manager: I’m on a mission to eventually make all of the recipes in Snacking Cakes: Simple Treats for Anytime Cravings by Yossy Arefi. The cakes are easy to make and not overly sweet. I made the Black- and Blueberry Ricotta Cake three times this summer - it’s a winner!
