Laureate Award Ceremony
Yesterday evening, the Laureate Award Ceremony at the Iowa State Capitol honoured Dr. Shakuntala Haraksingh Thilsted as the 2021 World Food Prize Laureate! Dr. Thilsted is recognized for her groundbreaking work in harnessing the use of aquaculture to fulfil the nutrition needs of rural communities, specifically women and children, in Asia and Africa.

Nutrition-Sensitive Food Systems
What is needed to improve access to and affordability of healthier foods? This question was discussed by experts at this session, where answers ranged from strengthening community engagement to fostering greater government accountability and transparency. Speakers noted that locally sourced foods, and blue foods and aquatic food systems, play a vital role in achieving good nutrition and health, especially for women and children.

International Cooperation
This year's Borlaug Dialogue comes soon after the UN Food Systems Summit and numerous other dialogues which aim to build momentum and awareness in the Decade of Action. In this final session, speakers – including Dr. Agnes Kalibata, Special Envoy for the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit – considered the governance systems needed to guide transformation and move towards system change and implementation.
