Apalachicola National Forest Walk

Saturday, October 30th at 9:30am EST
Location: 30.092980, -85.040497

Guy Anglin will lead a joint field trip for the Apalachicola RiverKeepers and the Magnolia Chapter to a special spot in the Apalachicola National Forest off SR 379 and FR 123. The focus of this field trip will be on some of the native plants and ecosystems found within the Apalachicola River basin. There are lots of wildflowers that are still putting on a nice show!  We will meet at a small trailhead on Forest Road 123.

Directions:  Go south from Bristol on SR 12 for 14 miles, at this point, SR 12 makes a left turn, bear right on SR 379 toward Sumatra, continue for approximately 13.7 miles, turn left on Forest Road 123 (please note that Google Maps misidentifies FR 123 as FR 115).  The trailhead is 0.3 miles on the right (30.092980, -85.040497).  The trailhead will only hold about 8 vehicles. There is plenty of additional parking along FR 123 shoulder.

Optional: Going to lunch at Capt. Kelly's Grill in Sumatra after the field trip.

~ 2022 Calendars will be available for purchase, $10 cash or check
