CITY OF BELLEVILLE - DEVELOPMENT CHARGES UPDATE
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MEMBERS
|

|
MEMBER DC UPDATE - CITY OF BELLEVILLE:
- QHBA sent a letter to Belleville City Council outlining our initial concerns and considerations related to the Development Charges Background Study and the proposed $24,299 DC (Urban SFD)
- QHBA's President, Jon Van Huizen and Past President, Arnold Vandermeer will present at the Public Meeting scheduled for Nov 8th 2021. They will be joined by non-residential sector's Peter Kempenaar
- Our key considerations include - the impact on affordability, the impact on the taxpayer, the impact on Belleville's competitiveness, and the subjectivity of the Background Study. In addition, we expect to ask for a reduced DC with a deferred implementation date of at least six months and phasing in over the next 5 yrs, in 6 month increments
- QHBA Staff and Board are meeting with City Councillors over the next week or so to discuss our position
- More details to follow as soon as they become available
