Spinello Projects announces Naama Tsabar's upcoming solo exhibition, Perimeters, at The Bass

Curated by Leilani Lynch

The Bass presents Perimeters, an exhibition of new and site-specific work by Israeli born, New York-based artist Naama Tsabar. Offering the potential for activation and performance throughout, the exhibition centers on Tsabar’s most recent series, Inversions, presenting new iterations of four bodies of work that Tsabar has explored from 2006 to the present.

Naama Tsabar works at the intersection of architecture and music, showing viewers how sound moves both through and beyond walls and buildings. She often makes large-scale collaborative performances, sculptures and installations that can be played by musicians and visitors alike. For Perimeters, Tsabar will fuse elements from sculpture, music, performance and architecture to transform the museum space itself into a playable instrument.

On View at Spinello Projects: Naama Tsabar Work On Felt (Variation 8) Bordeaux

Work On Felt (Variation 8) Bordeaux (2016) will be on view at Spinello Projects starting on November 20, 2021.

Naama Tsabar’s practice fuses elements from sculpture, music, performance and architecture. Her interactive works expose hidden spaces and systems, reconceive gendered narratives, and shift the viewing experience to one of active participation. Tsabar draws attention to the muted and unseen by propagating sound through space and sculptural form. Between sculpture and instrument, form and sound, Tsabar’s work lingers on the intimate, sensual and corporeal potentials within this transitional state. Collaborating with local communities of female identifying and gender non-conforming performers, Tsabar writes a new femininst and queer history of mastery.
