Fossil Fuel Divest Harvard

Report Exposes Fossil Fuel Ties on Campus

Dear Harvard Community,

DID YOU KNOW that the fossil fuel industry funds key climate and energy research, and continues to play a significant role on Harvard’s campus?

This September, our campaign won a historic victory when the university announced its commitment to divestment, but our campaign’s work is far from over. We know that the influence of the fossil fuel industry remains strong in our political processes and across the world of higher education, where affiliations with elite universities bolster the industry’s public image and distract from its persistent efforts to undermine climate action. This is true at Harvard, which continues to welcome the industry on campus even as it moves to make the endowment fossil free. That’s why we’ve released a new report documenting the industry’s influence on campus. It includes three case studies about fossil fuel industry influence in the Harvard Corporation, at the Harvard Kennedy School, and at the Harvard Law School. You can read the report at tinyurl.com/FossilFuelTies!

If you agree that Harvard should be transparent about its industry ties and reject fossil fuel funding for research affecting our futures, JOIN US and the Harvard Prison Divestment Campaign this FRIDAY, NOV.  12 AT 11:20 AM to call on Harvard to kick fossil fuel and prison money off campus. We will meet at Boylston Hall (gray building near Widener Library) in Harvard Yard. Be ready to move locations and bring a mask, plus friends! RSVP and find information for the action trainings here.
