People-oriented DR Care

Empowering people to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to manage and make informed decisions about their diabetes management and care can have a direct impact on their health outcomes. The discussion aims to put forward the best practice strategies and systems to activate and engage people with diabetes to look after their eyes and prevent possible vision loss and other associated risks.

Points to ponder

  • How can stakeholders work to raise social awareness to help improve health seeking behaviour?
  • How can health systems integrate the patient requirements and address barriers to care?
  • How do we start listening to patient voices and bring about a sustainable change as needed?
  • What role can technology play in assisting patients and help them develop self-reliance?
