Educate

In this month's edition of the newsletter, we will be looking at the effects of climate change on brain health.

Ciaran Considine PhD and Beth Malow MD & MS presented "Climate Change, The Environment, and Brain Health: How We Can Make a Difference"
through the Department of Neurology of Vanderbilt University Medical Center on October 22nd.

The presentation is just over an hour long and contains eye opening information that can change the way we think about the long term health effects of climate change.
This presentation can be accessed HERE.

Empower

"The health care sector accounts for almost five percent of global carbon dioxide emissions. If it were a country, it would be the fifth largest emitter." (Choi-Schagrin. NYT)

The United States has recently joined a roster of 42 countries that have pledged to lower their emissions of Carbon Dioxide across their healthcare systems! Congratulations to Health Care Without Harm for empowering the health care sector to do so.

Today we ask, "what can we as MiCCA volunteers do to encourage our local health care sectors to follow suit?"
Engage

Remind Those Around You...

With legislative deadlines fast approaching, it's vital to remind others to call Congress in support of a price on carbon during budget reconciliation. Even if one has done it before, it is important to do it again to keep the pressure on while they make their final decisions.

The Global Climate and Health Alliance:

The Global Climate and Health Alliance has been at the forefront of the COP26 conference. Their youtube channel (which can be accessed HERE) has been streaming the COP26 conference live.
