An joined UnLocal as the board treasurer and will use her financial management expertise to assist UnLocal. When asked why she joined UnLocal, An said “I appreciate the work that UnLocal is doing to advocate for people in need.”
Aria’s experience in nonprofit development and grantmaking will help UnLocal raise money to sustain our programming. Aria has been a DACA recipient for several years and appreciates that UnLocal is immigrant-led and deeply rooted within the community.
Ilena brings fresh insights to UnLocal from her work in nonprofit communications, including best practices in branding and marketing for community outreach and coalition-building. Ilena joined UnLocal “to increase visibility for the many ways the UnLocal team is working to support our immigrant community in NYC, and raise awareness around the many ways our immigration system needs to change to ensure that all New Yorkers can live and thrive here.”
Lina will support UnLocal with her knowledge in program evaluation and planning that she gained through her consulting practice and her past experience in nonprofits. “Through my previous volunteer experiences supporting asylum seekers through the fundamentally unjust and labyrinthine immigration system, I learned of UnLocal and its indispensable work. I know how difficult it is for immigrants to find legal representation and I want to support UnLocal to continue to thrive and be a resource in NYC.”
Yuniya works with an executive search firm that focuses on assisting nonprofits fulfill their mission and will help UnLocal with capacity building. Yuniya says, "As an immigrant myself, I wanted to work with UnLocal because the staff has genuine care for immigrants."
