Welcome to our November 2021 newsletter. I hope you and your loved ones are keeping well.  It has been a busy month for FICDO's volunteers.  We have summarized some of the things we have been doing in the past few weeks.  Thank you for supporting us in our journey to enable the most vulnerable.

2020/2021 Academic Year School Feeding Started
_______________________

FICDO’s school feeding program for 2021/22 academic year has kicked off early October. By God’s Grace, this is our third year. This year, we also intend to provide after-school academic support for the children. Because of the multi-faceted life challenges the children are going through, we expect some operational complexities (eg. some may not be as receptive as others; some still struggle with alphabets and numbers). But we will try our best to recruit volunteers who do their job with understanding, compassion, and patience in a non-judgmental manner. We won’t give up on anyone (just like God doesn’t give up on any of us). Please do pray for the children and our volunteers so that we do this in love.

Extending a Helping Hand to Struggling Families
_______________________

The soaring cost of living means even families who would have afforded to send their children to school are struggling this year. To show our solidarity with these families, FICDO donated stationery to 19 students. These are in addition to the fifty students under FICDO’s care who receive various support including meals, school materials (uniforms, footwear and stationery) and basic health care.

Women Empowerment Project
_______________________

This year we are embarking on women empowerment program. We are targeting two groups: families of children under FICDO's care and girls/women engaged in sex work for survival.  Our project workers have been busy for the whole month preparing ground work for this important project. More to come...

We have Moved to a New Office
_______________________

For the last 26 months, FICDO has been using an office donated by one of our Trustees. Now, we have moved to a new office, inside Fitche 02 Kebele administration’s compound where our school feeding centre and stores are also located. The town administration donated the office, as well as the building that we use for school feeding and store. Their full support has been crucial for FICDO to provide essential services to the community.

A thoughtful Gesture
_______________________

A thoughtful gesture from one of our supporters, this past week, is worth mentioning. During hist visit to our School Feeding Program,  he noticed that we were short of spoons and forks. The next day we got a gift package - a fork for every child! We are deeply touched by his thoughtfulness.  As the saying goes, "It isn't the size of the gift that matters, but the size of the heart that gives it."

Fund Raising Update

______________

If you would like to donate, we are continuing to use the same GoFundMe campaign that we created last year. We are very much grateful to our partners and individual supporters for their ongoing monthly support.  Together we are enabling the most vulnerable.
