Loveland Citizens Police Academy

By Lt. Amy Campbell

One ride along, and I was hooked! It was the early 90s and, while in high school, I was given the opportunity to ride with a police officer on a shift. I had no previous knowledge of law enforcement or any contact with police officers other than receiving one of those pesky traffic tickets. The ride along changed my life and my career path.

Thirty years later (yikes!), I am honored to participate in a program that allows the same behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement and who the men and women of the Loveland Police Department really are. The Loveland Citizens Police Academy started in 1998 with a vision of creating positive connections between police officers and our town’s residents and business partners. It was a non-conventional way to put someone in the shoes of a profession that very few experience...

Reminder: Basketball Hoops

A friendly reminder from Public Works: Please remove basketball hoops from sidewalks, cul-de-sacs, the end of your driveway, etc. In many neighborhoods, basketball hoops are making it difficult for our leaf/brush crews to navigate the route and make turns. Also, colder weather is coming...We don't want to damage your hoops with snow plows this winter! Thank you for your cooperation.

Smoke Alarm Check-Up

The Loveland-Symmes Fire Department reminds residents to check their smoke alarms. If you are unable or unsure how to test your smoke detectors, LSFD will come to your home and perform a test, inspect their location, and/or replace defective batteries and detectors. If interested, please submit your information via the Fire Prevention Request Form.

Miamiview Culvert Replacement: New footers and a new box culvert were installed. The project continues to move along with little disruption to residents. Click here for more info.

Annual Road Paving: Crews completed milling and paving of State Route 48 in early November. Founder's Drive is next on the list, and crews still have to finish pavement markings on some streets. Click here for the list of all streets included on the 2021 schedule.

Main & Chestnut Project: A large infrastructure project involving Main, South Wall, and Chestnut Streets began Oct. 4. Water service transfer and water meter replacement work began this month. Click here to read more about the total project.

Loveland Heights Water Main Valve Installation: This is the second of a two-phase project to replace all of the non-functioning water valves in the Loveland Heights. The total cost of the project is $74,000 with the entire amount being covered through a Community Development Block Grant. Supply issues have delayed the project, but the contractor began Nov. 15.

Door-to-Door Soliciting

Is door-to-door soliciting allowed in the City of Loveland? This is a common question we hear at City Hall. Watch our video for the basics on how businesses apply for soliciting permits and how residents can apply for the city's "No Soliciting" list.
