Dear Cheviot Friends & Neighbors:
 
This week the Los Angeles City Council rejected the redistricting map created by the independent citizens Commission and appointed an Ad Hoc Committee to design a new map. Two maps submitted to the Ad Hoc Committee by special interest groups chop up our neighborhood council and split Cheviot Hills from our natural communities of interest to the north such as Westwood. One map places Cheviot Hills with neighborhoods to the west such as Pacific Palisades and Venice, while the other map place us with random neighborhoods to the east including Griffith Park. Both maps entirely disenfranchise Cheviot Hills by placing us in districts with communities having completely different interests.
We need to come out strong against this blatant disenfranchisement.  Here’s what to do:
(1) Speak up TOMORROW November 5, 2021, at 1:00 pm, by calling into the Ad Hoc Committee hearing. Call (669) 254-5252 and use Meeting No. 160 229 0428, then press #.  Then press # again when prompted for a participant ID.  Once admitted into the meeting press *9 to request to speak.
(2) Submit written comments: Email the Ad Hoc Committee (Councilmember.Martinez@lacity.org; Councilmember.Blumenfield@lacity.org; Counvilmember.Raman@lacity.org; paul.koretz@lacity.org; Councilmember.Price@lacity.org; Councilmember.ofarrell@lacity.org; Councilmember.kevindeleon@lacity.org) with the following message: “I am a resident of Cheviot Hills and a stakeholder in the Westside Neighborhood Council. I strongly support Map K2.5, amendment 3, and I urge you to keep our part of Map K2.5 as drawn so that Cheviot Hills remains intact within the WNC and the WNC remains intact within CD5.
