Today is another Bandcamp Friday. We've prepared a free sampler so you can preview some of the our best songs. We also ♡ when you stream our catalog. But buying music on Bandcamp is the best way to support our artists.

Buke & Gase: Scholars (vinyl LP - scuffed sleeve discount)

A dozen copies of this 2019 LP have some light sleeve damage so we're offering them at a deep discount. (The LP will play just fine!) Pitchfork wrote that this album "snaps with the clarity and force of stadium-sized headbangers while maintaining the intimacy of [the duo's] earlier work." We won't try to describe their sound but listen up here and know there's a reason they've been a hand picked opening act for The National, Lou Reed, Tune-Yards, Shellac and many others.

20 Years of The National

We’re taking a moment to recognize the 20th-ish anniversary of The National's self-titled debut. It came out in the second half of 2001, a dramatic and terrifying year. To be honest the actual release date is a bit shrouded in mystery between the combined confusions of 9/11, us figuring out how to be a record label, and them figuring out how to be a touring band — but this is definitely the LP's birthday season. To celebrate, the band have finally put their entire discography on Bandcamp. And 4/5ths of the group contributed some picks to this recent feature on the Bandcamp site.

We are grateful for the journey this record began and the path it set us on over the last two decades. We shared some archival pics from those early days on our Instagram and Twitter accounts.

Brassland on Other Record Labels podcast

For a concise look at the parallel history the label shares with The National, this podcast is a good place to start. Recently our co-founder Alec Hanley Bemis has been doing the rounds talking about our backstory. The latest is this chat with Other Record Labels — the podcast for an online community devoted to "taking the mystery out of running a record label." (LISTEN) But to hear even more talking, you can also check out these other podcasts, recorded pre-Covid but only released in the past year. The Third Story chat is quite polished and threaded with audio samples. (LISTEN) Finally, a show devoted to the New York music community Talk Music Talk features a 10-track label sampler at the end of the conversation. (LISTEN)

A Return To Live Music

Not everyone is comfortable attending live shows yet. But we're excited to see members of our family of artists taking their first steps back into the real world. (Mostly in the confines of their own continent or country until border restrictions subside.)

This Is The Kit: Bashed Out (limited green jumper vinyl LP)

A few years ago we pressed up this limited-to-500-copy variant for one of Britain's most beloved mini-record chains. This pressing of the band's breakthrough LP Bashed Out is on coloured vinyl that matches Kate Stables' jumper pictured on the cover illustration. We found the last 100 copies in our warehouse and are selling them in honor of Bandcamp Friday & in UK shops in honor of their current tour.
