12 NOV: REMEMBRANCE DAY, OUR NEW CAMPAIGN CHAIR, BIG DEAL MOVIE NIGHT & MORE

CAMPAIGN UPDATE: WEEK 8

Remembrance Day is a special time for my family and many others who honour loved ones who gave their lives for Australia in war. I am incredibly grateful to those who serve our nation, knowing that they do not do it for glory but rather for each one of us here today and those yet to come. Thank you to every one of them.

As I reflect on those we have lost, however, I am acutely aware that we need to do much better as a nation to support those who do return from conflict. Two years ago, I lost a friend who had recently served. He was a truly incredible person and had medals to prove it. Yet when he came home, he simply couldn’t adjust, and when he turned to the system for help it wasn’t there. We must to do more to help our soldiers heal as they need to.

This week, I pay my respects to my friend, my great-grandfather who served in WWI, my great-uncles, grandfather and family friends who were the Rats of Tobruk, Light Horse Brigade, Infantry spotters and protectors of Darwin in WWII, and all the other brave men and women of our armed forces.

They have sacrificed so much for Australia, and I feel we owe it to them to do all we can to make our country the best it can be by holding ourselves and our politicians to a higher standard, and ensuring that everyone gets a fair go, no matter their background.

I love our country, and I know we can do better. Let’s change the climate in Canberra.

Tea with Tink - Tuesday 16 November

Tea with Tink is our regular morning tea series where Kylea chats with some of the incredible people in and around our community to hear about what is important to them, and the changes they would like to see in our electorate. Watch replays >>

Big Deal Movie Night - Friday 26 November

KT Next Gen is hosting a free screening of Craig Reucassel's recent documentary "Big Deal: Is our democracy for sale". Together with Warringah's GenZali, we'll be meeting Craig for a Q+A and screening of the movie, which asks hard questions about the way big industries, like guns and fossil fuels, influence our politicians.

Tickets are exclusively for supporters 15-30 years of age so please reach out to anyone in this age group who may be interested in attending. Get tickets >>

Why do you want to change the climate in Canberra? First I was frustrated at all I saw coming from Canberra. Then I was angry. Then came the opportunity to DO something to change the climate in Canberra by supporting a great Independent candidate.

KYLEA TINK NEXT GENERATION

Last Tuesday, we had the privilege of attending a panel Q&A with Kylea and three climate experts answering questions about COP26, Australian climate policy and what we could do to enact change. After the Q&A we were able to speak to Will Hazza who gave us incredibly valuable advice on activism and community organisation.

On Friday the 26th of November we will be hosting a movie night event with GenZali at the Independent Theatre. We will be showing the movie ‘The Big Deal’. Make sure to book your tickets and invite as many people as you can!

Kylea Tink Next Generation is looking for more volunteers to do letterbox drops and spread the word about Kylea's campaign for Canberra.

NORTH SYDNEY'S INDEPENDENT

If I may indulge in a personal tale ... Last week my family and I returned home from being stranded on the South Island of NZ for nearly five months. What was meant to be a 10-day holiday became an unexpected international chapter of North Sydney's Independent, with me dialling into Kylea's first ever town hall meeting from the other side of the Tasman!

It's great to be home and especially wonderful to see so many Tink Pink T-shirts at The Crowie last Sunday. I am so proud of what we as a community have achieved since North Sydney's Independent launched with about 50 supporters in June. "Team Tink" has created a tangible vehicle of hope and positive political change for both North Sydney and, as part of a broader independents movement, for Australia. We've been extremely excited to see other independent candidates standing up to represent their electorates in parliament.

The climate is clearly ripe for change in North Sydney and in Canberra!
