Orchestra 2001 will partner with celebrated bandoneonist Shinjoo Cho to perform Piazzolla Centennial: Lo que vendrá (What's to come), a marathon celebration of master composer and bandoneonist Astor Piazzolla (1921-1992). In addition to Piazzolla’s music, the evening will include composers and teachers who influenced him: Béla Bartók, Duke Ellington, and Alberto Ginastera. It will conclude with the premiere of Hombre by the contemporary Argentine composer, Diego Schissi.
The performance will be presented as an in-person and live-streamed event. Ticket holders are welcome to enter and exit the Teatro between pieces throughout the evening. The audience will be limited to 50% capacity in the Teatro and masks are required throughout the event, regardless of vaccination status. Lo que vendrá was made possible with generous lead support by the Musical Fund Society, Steven R. Gerber Trust, and Presser Foundation, and is sponsored by Jacobs Music.
