Tech Update

You should have all received invites to Google Classrooms and a registration link for Zoom Events. Below is some suggestions on making Saturday and Sunday run smoothly.
NOTE: If you haven't gotten an invite to Google Classrooms, that probably means you submitted an address that it did not accept.

The biggest problem is for some reason Google Classrooms is not excepting chapter emails (e.g. info@jetaa.org) even if it's running on google workspace. You should have received an email at that address to get one that works with Google Classrooms.  A gmail address is the safest bet.

If you haven't received an email and don't have access please email adam.ledyard@jetaausa.com with subject line: Google Classroom Access
Zoom Events

You will receive an email from Zoom Events to register for the Conference.  This is a separate space on Zoom.  There will be a link to https://events.zoom.us/ where you can see the ticket and register.  If you've never used Events which is highly probable, it will update the Zoom App.

If it complains about you not having permission to access the registration, that most likely means you are logged into two different zoom accounts.  The easiest way to remedy this is to:
  1. Close the Zoom app.
  2. Go to https://zoom.us/ and https://events.zoom.us/ and log out of both
  3. Log into standard Zoom (zoom.us) with the email address you signed up with
  4. Log into Zoom Events (events.zoom.us) with the email address you signed up with
  5. Click the 'Register' button
  6. If it still complains about permissions, log into your account inside the app and try hitting the 'Register' button again on the Events site.

The above method can probably be used
any time you see a permissions error

Some suggestions before the start of the conference on Saturday:
  • Log into the Zoom Event! It's live! Check out the Sessions, Speakers and Sponsors!
  • Say hi in the lobby chat: Introduce yourself if you feel like it. Tell everyone else that logs in how excited you are!
  • Get into the Google Classroom and check out the content that's already come in:
    • Wonderful messages and presentations from the JETAA International community
    • CLAIR updates and GiA information!
    • Chapter updates: See what everyone's been up to!
    • We have a couple presentations from alumni already up and ready for you to enjoy.
Our JETAAUSA Slack Community was created to allow a more inclusive, open and and more organized way (that is not social media exclusive) to connect and communicate with your fellow JET alumni on a channel based tech platform.  So let's cut some Slack together, here is a nifty Quick Start Guide to Slack we encourage you to reference.
