What's On Today

Nature is at the heart of delivering on the Paris Agreement and keeping 1.5 degrees within reach. The second day of Nature and Land Use at COP26 will demonstrate how governments, businesses, Indigenous Peoples, local communities and farmers are driving the transition towards more sustainable management of our land and ocean by protecting and restoring nature and reforming the food and farming system.

Latest News
On Youth and Public Empowerment Day, more than 23 countries made national climate education pledges including net-zero schools and putting climate at the heart of national curriculums. 
Yesterday's major COP26 outcomes include the UK contributing £6 million to PROBLUE, a World Bank fund that supports sustainable ocean projects as well as the co-chairs conclusions of education and environment ministers summit at COP26. The UK is committing a new £85,000 research grant to support the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre to produce better information on the education needs of refugee children.

In the Ocean, Ice Sheets and a Melting Planet event, Lewis Pugh discussed the impact that climate change is having on our oceans.

Ocean Action Day

UK Government marked Ocean Action Day with finance to support ocean resilience and increased commitments to protect 30% of the world's oceans by 2030.

Lord Goldsmith brought together speakers John Kerry, United States Special Presidential Envoy for Climate and oceanographer Dr Sylvia Earle in the Ocean Action Event, pushing for ambitious steps towards ocean health and resilience.
Watch the ocean action video which underscores the critical importance of climate action for the health of the ocean and the role of marine nature-based solutions in addressing climate change.

Ellie Goulding visited the Green Zone to see exhibitors including the Scouts and the Royal Society. Key events of the day included the National Youth Theatre’s On The Edge performance, WWF’s Walrus From Space which had a second feature in the Planetarium and the student-led discussion on What Does Meaningful Youth Leadership Look Like?

Highlights of today's events include The Future of Wildlife Filmmaking, an exclusive screening of new Sky Nature show Shark with Steve Backshall and Can Soaps spread the word on climate change?

Climate Leader Dan Robinson is going #OneStepGreener in Garforth, Leeds by planting fruits, herbs and vegetables that are free for local residents to take.

The Blue Zone will be closed on Sunday, 7 November as it is a rest day ahead of the second week of negotiations.

The Green Zone will be open as normal.
