Unofficial Results for
MCTX General & Special Elections

The 2021 General and Special elections were held on Nov. 2 and the unofficial results are as follows:   

  • Councilmember District A – None of the candidates gained 50 percent of the votes, therefore a runoff election will be held between the top two candidates: Monica Riley (46.83%) and Reginald Pearson (46.35%).
  • Councilmember District B – Jeffrey L. Boney won (78.48%).
  • Councilmember District C – Anthony G. Maroulis won (100.00%).
  • Councilmember District D – Floyd Emery won (100.00%).
  • Propositions A (73.63%), B (67.54%) and C (69.24%) passed.

Returns for the elections will be officially canvassed on Nov. 15 during the Special City Council meeting. The swearing in ceremony for Districts B, C and D Councilmembers will also be held the same day during the Regular City Council meeting at 7 p.m. in the Community Center.

Remember to set your clocks back by one hour this Sunday, Nov. 7 at 2 a.m. And, this is also a good time to check smoke alarms to assure the devices are working properly and change batteries if needed.

MCTX Veterans Memorial Dedication
Set for 11.11.2021 at 11 a.m.

It’s the final count down! The Veterans Memorial construction is in the final stages and the MCTX community is invited to join together this Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2021 at 11 a.m. for the Dedication Ceremony of this latest amenity in the City Hall Complex that will salute all branches of the US Military!

Helping Our Community: Stuff the Squad Car & Fire Truck Set for Nov. 20

It’s that time of the year again! The MCTX Police, Fire & Rescue Services and the community will work together again for “Operation Thanksgiving: Stuff the Squad Car & Fire Truck” to collect non-perishable items for those in need this holiday season.

The drive-thru event will be held at the Public Safety Headquarters located at 3849 Cartwright Rd. Saturday, Nov. 20 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Be sure to bring the kids to see the different equipment that will be displayed and feel free to take pictures with the officers and firefighters. Also provided will be music and a snow cone truck for everyone to enjoy.

If you are unable to attend the event, you may drop off non-perishable items ahead of the event at the Public Safety Headquarters lobby that is open 24 hours a day.

Get Hired, Get a Bonus!

A nationwide labor shortage confirms the old adage, “Good help is hard to find.” A new program called “Get Hired” gives small businesses the money to pay bonuses that attract and keep valuable talent. Employees can receive up to $1,000.

Hurricane Season Continues;
Eyes on the Gulf

The 2021 Hurricane Season doesn’t end until Nov. 30 and officials are closely monitoring the active developments in the Gulf. As of now, there is no direct impact to our region. However, citizens are advised to stay prepared and be weather aware for the next couple of weeks.
