Remember to Set Your Clocks Back One Hour This Weekend

Celebrations of the Week

  • Our students learned about Remembrance Day and created amazing art with they symbol of the poppy.
  • Today, we had a special virtual assembly to commemorate Remembrance Day.  We were thrilled to welcome MCpl Frausell-Fawcett as a special guest speaker.
  • Learning math can happen in many ways!
  • In music grade 3 & 4 have started learning to play the xylophone & metallophone. The songs they are learning are Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Row Row Row Your Boat, Mary had a little Lamb and Happy Birthday!
  • We thank our hot lunch parents for serving amazing breakfast sandwiches, fruit and yogart cups and homemade banana muffins.  What a treat!

Character Trait for November - Purpose

In September, we focused on the character trait of Grit.  In October, we moved on to teach the students about Gratitude.  November brings our attention to teaching the students how important it is to live a life with PURPOSE.  Purpose can be defined as a "commitment to make a meaningful contribution to the world."

Having a purpose is good for both you and the world. It drives you to make positive contributions in line with your own interests and strengths. And this pursuit gives your life direction and forward momentum; it motivates and guides your short-term goals and daily activities. With a strong sense of purpose, you flourish: you enjoy a more meaningful life, are healthier and more resilient to setbacks, live more energetically, and feel good about what you’ve accomplished.

Remembrance Day gives us a great opportunity to talk about how those who serve in the armed forces and have fought to allow us lives of freedom are important examples of living lives of Purpose.

Parent Teacher Interviews - Thank You

Thank you to all of our families who took time to connect with their children's teachers during parent teacher interviews this week.  We appreciate the trust you place in us as we work together to help your children learn and grow every day!

Send Masks

This is reminder that we ask every child to have a mask at school.  Masks are mandatory for grade 4 and all adults, but there are times when the younger students may be asked to wear a mask.  This includes if they are working in close proximate with other students in a small group or if they develop symptoms during the day.  Thank you for helping us by sending a mask every day.

Vaccinations - A Note for Volunteers

As of November 15, all volunteers and staff in the school will have to show proof of vaccination or a clear COVID test before they can work with children.  Please stop in the office if you have questions.

REMINDER: CHRISTMAS GIFT SHOP

PVSFA is thrilled to support our Christmas Gift Shop again!  All students can choose a present (for their immediate household members) for only $1.00 per gift.  Each child will "secretly" be able to GIVE a present to their parents/caregivers, as well as their siblings, and have them all gift-wrapped in time for Christmas!

To create this MAGICAL memory for our students, we need help from YOU!

We need GIFT DONATIONS for Fathers, Mothers, Brothers and Sisters of all ages, including Toddlers.  Please donate only new or gently used items.  For safety reasons, we cannot accept clothing, stuffed animals, electronics, appliances or any large furniture.

All Donations are due to the school by Tuesday, November 30th.

In addition, we will need PARENT VOLUNTEERS to make this day a success!  Please contact Shannon Auger (780-952-8980) or Chantelle deBoer (780-962-4754) if you are free on December 15th to help children shop for and srap their gifts.  Thank you!
