Here's how to participate!
GATHER DONATIONS:
 Remember to gather pledges from family and friends! Bring them in by the morning of the Walkathon to be eligible for prizes. Click for the Walkathon pledge sheet. See this sample letter/email if you would like to email people.
DRESS UP: Prepare your superhero costume! Wear your walking shoes!
VOLUNTEER: While only parents and caregivers who are already cleared to volunteer at the school site through Oakland Ed Fund can help run the event, all community members are invited to support our kids by signing up to drop off snacks the Friday before the event bit.ly/walkathon2021snacks!
MORE INFO:  Monday Nov 15 is a minimum day. If you have been recently cleared to volunteer at Emerson and are available to volunteer, email Elia Shelton for info.

Registration and clearance is required of all parents and guardians who wish to volunteer in Oakland public schools.

All Oakland SchoolVolunteers (OSV) are required to complete clearance based on the type of service they’d like to do. This is required by the state of California’s Ed Code, the Oakland Unified School District (OUSD), and the Oakland Public Education Fund.

Calling all rising 6th graders! Tune in for Oakland in the Middle virtual tour week to learn all about our amazing middle schools before the enrollment window for 2022-23 opens on Nov. 15.

The Black Students and Families Thriving Task Force is hosting two in-person listening sessions and two virtual listening sessions. 

We want to hear directly from our Black families, staff and students - past and present. 

  • What do BLACK STUDENTS & FAMILIES need to THRIVE & SUCCEED in OUSD?

  • What does LOVE look like in practice in OUSD?

  • How can OUSD CREATE a SCHOOL culture that HONORS, RESPECTS & VALUES BLACK STUDENTS & FAMILIES?

  • How can we REPAIR & HEAL what has been harmed to MOVE FORWARD?
