Dear Aviation Museum Members:

As we move into the fall months, I pause to look at and celebrate the museum’s many successes.

In August, we hosted our third annual Aviation Days and had over 2,100 people come through the gates to experience a collection of airplanes, antique cars, plane rides and engine start-ups. The success of the weekend is directly attributed to the 70 volunteers who graciously gave their time and talents to this event.

The museum’s flight program was another huge success. Back in spring we anticipated the Tiger Moth making 200 flights. The Tiger Moth ended the flying season with an astonishing 306 flights. The Harvard entered later into the season, but it still took 27 flights.

The museum owes a huge thank you to a small group of pilots, ramp helpers, aviation mechanical engineers, and flight operation personnel. Not only did we fly, but we also created wonderful memories for our patrons.

Recently, the museum obtained two restoration projects. We are excited to take ownership of a Norseman and Avro Anson. Over the next year or so, these planes will be brought back to life as static displays for all to enjoy.

On behalf of the Aviation Museum’s Board of Directors, I extend an invitation to all our members to consider putting their name forward as a new Board member. We would like to increase our board numbers and broaden our board skill set. We are seeking new board members with backgrounds in human resources, marketing, and fundraising. If you wish to put your name forward, please contact the museum at 306-651-7247. Also, if you know a suitable candidate, please encourage them to submit their name.

The museum is inviting applications for a paid part time grant writer. This job involves preparing grant applications, seeking new grants and renewing previous grants. For more information contact Dorrin or Steve at the museum.

Mark your calendars! On Friday, December 17, the aviation museum is hosting a Christmas supper social and silent auction at 602 Lynx Wing. Additional information will be forwarded in near future.

Sincerely,

Jim Jelinski, Board Chair
