Women in HPC November 2021 Newsletter

It has been a while since we last shared a newsletter with you. Hopefully, going forward, we will soon be able to reinstate a regular update from Women in HPC. However, this month, we wanted to share two important messages with the membership.

First, it is a little over a week until Supercomputing 2021, which is happening online and in St. Louis, November 14th - 19th.  Women in HPC will be running several sessions at the conference, with options for both in-person and online participation.

Second, we wanted to let you know about a change to our Privacy Statement, which will make it much easier for you to engage with your chosen WHPC Chapter or Affiliate.

More details on both topics are appended below.

Stay safe and take care,

— The WHPC Team

Women in HPC returns to Supercomputing (SC’21) with our 11th Annual Workshop

Our workshop in Diversifying the HPC Community and Engaging Male Allies returns online and in-person in St. Louis, Missouri this November.

We are pleased to announce that preparations are underway for our 11th Annual Workshop.  Once again headed by our incredible volunteers and taking place on Sunday, November 14th from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST, our workshop promises to deliver an exciting agenda with panels, early career talks, and distinguished speakers.  This year our theme is career development. From building up your network, transitioning into new fields, to making sure you avoid burnout, our group of speakers and guests will guide attendees on a journey to empower you no matter where you are in your career.

Updates to the Women in HPC Privacy Statement

We have updated the privacy statement published on our website to note that we will share your name and email address with the designated representative of any WHPC Chapters or Affiliate that you request to join. We are making this change as we understand it is currently difficult for our WHPC Chapters and WHPC Affiliate to communicate with their members and we wanted to make sure people did not miss out on activities and events in their locality.

If you do not wish us to share your name and email address with a WHPC Chapter or WHPC Affiliate, then please update your membership preferences on the website (see link in the footer of this newsletter) by the end of November, or contact info@womeninhpc.org, if you have any questions or comments.
