 Priest in Charge Search Prayer

Almighty God, giver of every good gift: Look graciously on your Church, and so guide the minds of those who shall choose a priest in charge for this parish, that we may receive a faithful pastor, who will care for your people and equip us for our ministries; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
From Fr.  Chris
End Times
We are winding down the church year.  November 21, the Feast of  Christ the King, is the last Sunday in our liturgical year.  After that, we begin again with Advent. As is usual for this time of year, all three of the readings for this Sunday are about the end times: Daniel’s visions, Jesus’ and Paul’s warnings. Apocalyptic language is marked by symbolic images, the expectation of the end of the world, and as the Merriam Webster Dictionary says, an “immanent cosmic cataclysm in which God destroys the ruling powers of evil.” The main theme of apocalyptic literature  is that there is always hope.  The end of the world may come, the old way may be destroyed, but those who obey God’s commandments will be rewarded. The faithful remnant will be saved.

Fall in the Children’s Church!

What a great start of Fall we have had in the classroom! We’ve gotten into a really good routine, each Sunday when the children arrive we start our morning off by talking about our week, our highs and lows and our hopes for the week to come. We read a devotional (one in line with the lesson for the day, when I can find one!). We then do our lesson (whatever the gospel is in big church, we do our lesson on) and sometimes a craft or coloring page, and then join you all in big church for communion. When we return to the classroom we clean up from all the fun we’ve had, we will review the lesson for the day, and then we will do our popcorn prayer. Someone will start us off and we we’ll all take turns praying for what ever is on our hearts. Sometimes our sweet kiddos pray for their classmates, or a sick friend of family member, they pray for their upcoming sport events, and even chicken nuggets.
I am so blessed to be able to help foster our children’s love and relationship with Our Lord and thank you all for your continued support and encouragement with our children’s program.
Can’t wait to see you all Sunday!

Holy Family: A Time of Growth
This year has been a challenging time for our families, our church, our community, our country, and the entire world. Due to the COVID Pandemic, we have been challenged to re- think what is “normal”. Masks, physical distancing and isolation have affected us all. In the United States alone, we have lost over 700,000 loved ones, as well as millions of jobs.
In the past year, we have had to find new ways to communicate, keep in touch, and help one another. Holy Family had to transition to on-line worship in the spring; however, we are now open for in-person worship. Through it all, Holy Family has not stopped. We have fed the hungry and provided vital support to many in need in our community, especially the children at Mills River Elementary School. We have shared the love of Christ with others. We have been alive in the spirit.
Now, we are faced with our next challenge. With a new Priest-In-Charge starting in January, we begin Holy Family’s next chapter in its’ legacy of growth. In order for the plant to grow, it needs water and proper attention. It should be our goal to keep growing in our faith and in our ministry to others; to plan for the future that God has intended for us; to be ready for the growth that is coming to our Mills River Community and to our Holy Family Church.
We ask that each of you prayerfully consider the importance of Holy Family in your life and how you can help expand our impact with your continuing support. Let us all demonstrate to our new Priest-In-Charge that we are committed to God’s mission.
We will have an ingathering of 2022 pledges on Sunday, November 14th. Please place your heart in God’s hands and give generously to serve one another as good stewards of God’s grace.

Mark 4: 30-32
Jesus said:
The Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed which is the smallest plant you put in the ground. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of the garden plants, with such big branches that the birds perch in its shade.

Mask Policy :

Holy Family recommends, but is not requiring, the use of masks.  As always, if you are not feeling well, please stay home

Coffee Fellowship is a wonderful time in the life of our parish. It is a time, after being fed spiritually, we gather as a community to refresh our bodies with coffee and a snack. It is a time that we strengthen our sense of community. It is a time in which we can introduce guests to our community and make them feel welcome. Finally, it is time that we can offer our gift of hospitality by providing snacks and cleanup. So please utilize the ever present sign up sheet to provide a Sunday’s hospitality.

Every Wednesday morning at 8:30, the men of Holy Family gather at Kosta’s Kitchen to enjoy a time of fellowship.  Not only do we enjoy Kosta’s breakfast, our Senior Warden is particularly fond of their corned beef hash, but we enjoy each other’s company. A sense of community has developed with this group. We are becoming known to the Kosta’s patrons and waitresses as the church group. So in a small way, it is a time of reaching out into the community outside the church walls and making Christ’s presence known.
Choir Rehearsal

Choir rehearsal has resumed Wednesday at 4:30 pm. Pleas join us as we are practicing the music for the Bishop’s visit.
We have reached the required $5000 so the Ingles cards are available for pickup. Please bring your checks made out to Holy Family, tagged Ingles Cards, and see Teresa Kelly this Sunday to pickup yours.
