ELECTION RECAP
The Democratic Party of San Juan County owes a huge debt of gratitude to all of you who took part in this year's local election cycle.
You might have been someone who donated or volunteered, or you might have attended one of our meetings or read our newsletter. Some of you called us on the phone to get information about candidates and ALL of you voted.
Some of you even did the hardest thing: you ran for office.
DPSJC laid groundwork this cycle that will benefit us for years to come. We hosted our first-ever candidate bootcamp with the best political consultants in the state. We ran out first-ever Donation Matching program, which distributed thousands in campaign funds to local races. We piloted a first-of-its-kind paid canvassing program, which we hope to explore more in future cycles.
However you contributed, we want to say thank you. Like in many cycles before, we won some and lost some on Tuesday night. We're proud of our victories and bitter about our defeats, and we are more determined than ever to fight for the best vision for the community we love.
There's a lot of work left to do and we are truly grateful for each and every one of you.

Tony Deherrera, Bloomfield School Board
Christina Aspaas, CCSD School Board
Ben Woody Jr, Bloomfield School Board
Evelyn Benny, San Juan College Board
Ashley Maxwell, San Juan Soil and Water Conservation Board
ADDITIONAL STATEWIDE RESULTS:
In Albuquerque, Mayor Tim Keller achieved a sweeping victory with 55% of the vote. Voters expressed their support for Mayor Keller’s small businesses incentives, his investment in jobs, and his record successfully navigating the COVID-19 pandemic.
In Santa Fe, Incumbent Mayor Alan Webber also took home a significant victory against the two other mayoral candidates. Voters sent a clear message that Webber’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, his approach to addressing homelessness and affordable housing, and his ability to expand the city’s economy is exactly the leadership Santa Fe needs.
In Rio Rancho’s competitive school board race, former Rio Rancho High School principal Gary Tripp defeated radical—and divisive—political operative Patrick Brenner. Voters backed Tripp over his clear-eyed commitment to growing career technical education, ensuring universal availability of high-speed broadband, and imparting financial literacy to students.
In the Las Cruces’s City Council elections, progressive candidates Becki Graham, Becky Corran, and Yvonne Flores made history when they were elected to join the now all-female City Council. Las Cruces voters rallied around the candidates’ Democratic values such as providing living wages, increasing affordable housing, and improving public education.

SHIPROCK VOTER REG RECAP
DPSJC Partnered with the Apache County (AZ) Democrats to register voters at the Shiprock Flea Market on Saturday. Our volunteers Mary Ann Briody and Barbara Morgan joined Apache County Democratic Chairwoman Priscilla Weaver and her husband John Watts. We registered voters in San Juan County, Apache County and the Navajo Nation, and met lots of Dem friends!
