At the FLF November meeting, participants discussed plans for the book sale and the reception for GLOW on November 21. Leadership Team members voted to approve the 2022 FLF budget. There will be no meeting in December. In 2022, meetings will be the fourth Tuesday of the month at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Room, beginning January 25.

The FLF Art Curation Team has mounted an exhibit of animal bones collected by Charlie P. over decades. As a professional artist/illustrator, he appreciates bones for their sculptural beauty and design. One of his favorite discoveries was an entire fox skeleton (bottom shelf) that he and his son found under a manzanita tree on their property in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Charlie hopes you enjoy viewing his collection.
Many thanks to Girl Scout Troop 15525 for planting cool season veggies and marigolds in the Kimbrough Family Children's Gardening Beds. The troop will continue to tend the beds at their monthly meetings.

What's in a Name?

Lori and Eddie Scher (far right) and family

Lori and Eddie Scher shared why they are so proud of the Scher Family Reading Nook in the Felton Branch Library. “All the knowledge and wonder contained in books is something that can be imparted between generations. We found a community that feels like this is a priority here in Felton, put down roots 33 years ago, and raised two children. When we saw the hopes and dreams of many coming to fruition in our beautiful Felton library, we were inspired to contribute in this way. We are so fortunate that our daughter Roxy Tracy has moved back to where she grew up and is growing her own family just down the street! We can always hope our son may consider this area too, but we are happy that he is in the Bay Area for now. We love reading to our grandson and look forward to when he can visit the library and explore all that it holds for himself.”

Chris Soriano (left) and Earth Stewards

Chris Soriano, Field Programs Coordinator for the Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History, and a Felton resident, brought a group of Earth Stewards to the Felton Discovery Park to learn about mitigation and to work on removing invasive plants on October 21. The Earth Stewards Program aims to empower the next generation of environmental stewards by providing STEM education to alternative education high school students through outdoor experiences. A big thank you to Chris and the Earth Stewards, who plan to return to the Discovery Park monthly.
