Friends,
The Grimsley PTSA is participating in the NCPTA “Give Me 5” Membership Challenge by attempting the “21 in 21” task! If our unit adds 21 members between October 21st and November 21st we will be eligible to win prizes for our program. If you have not yet joined the PTSA or have additional family members in your household who have not joined (students can be members too!), please consider following this link to join as well as donate to the Whirlie Way fundraising campaign:

Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week – November 15th – 19th
The Grimsley Goods Club, which provides food and clothing to those in need in the GHS community is holding a food drive for Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week from November 15th to November 19th. There will be a collection bin with a sign in each building. Each morning students will put donations in the bins and should let their 1ST PERIOD TEACHER know how many items they donated. The class with the most cans collected will receive a doughnut party the day we get back from Thanksgiving break (11/29). Thanks for your support, and go Whirlies!
Celebrating Musical Honors
Congratulations to Junior Carter Bingham on his successful performance as a Tenor with the North Carolina High School Honors Chorus, held Sunday, November 7th in Winston Salem at the North Carolina Music Educators Association state conference under the direction of Dr. Julie Yu from Kansas State University. Carter was one of only 6 GCS students to be selected for this honor and was ranked 7th in his voice part statewide. Carter is currently auditioning for the NC Governor’s School and the Mars Hill Festival Chorus.

National Honor Society
The Grimsley National Honor Society will hold its Annual Induction Ceremony for verified members on Thursday, November 18th at 7:30 pm in the Media Center. All newly verified NHS members are required to attend. See Mr. Darden and Ms. Allen for details.
November 22nd and 23rd
GCS has scheduled two remote learning days prior to Thanksgiving. The two new remote days are Monday, November 22nd and Tuesday, November. 23rd.
Students will log in to their courses from home to complete missing work but will not participate in live instruction during the two days, providing students and teachers a more flexible schedule.
GCS leaders made the decision after hearing about high levels of stress among students, staff and families. The shift to remote learning does not change the number of instructional days.
