Consequently, Dr. Ruprecht and the President of the UCC Ingrid Cernei-Kelner, were invited to visit Kazakhstan by the Minister of Foreign Affairs in order to experience the sights and sounds of that country.  On returning Dr. Ruprecht was asked to write a few articles about his impressions and respond to President Tokayev's speech to the Nation.

On September 1, 2021, the President of Kazakhstan has delivered his State of the Nation Address “UNITY OF THE PEOPLE AND SYSTEMIC REFORMS ARE A SOLID FOUNDATION FOR THE NATION’S PROSPERITY”.

Tony and Inga are well placed to comment on his address from a Canadian perspective.

Tony Ruprecht, Former Minister of Multiculturalism, and Inga Cernei-Kelner, President of United Communities of Canada, had a chance to visit Kazakhstan at the time of President Tokayev’s State of the Nation Address and discuss public policy issues with private and public officials. Therefore, Tony and Inga are well placed to comment on his address from a Canadian perspective. Tony Ruprecht commented in his article:

“I am convinced that the foundation laid by Kazakhstan’s first President Nursultan Nazarbayev is now being used to construct an edifice of government that reflects the aspirations of the people of Kazakhstan.  It is clear that in his State of the Nation Address he is guiding the ship of state toward a modern society; toward future Prosperity and Peace.

We can see this desire to modernize in various initiatives.  Initiatives such as developing a Biosafety Forecasting system and attracting up-to-date Medical Technologies in cooperation with renowned Pharmaceutical companies; building 1000 new schools by 2025 and training 100,000 I.T. specialists in order for Kazakhstan to become the Digital Hub for Eurasia; and updating the Political System by direct regional elections of district mayors.

But, what I find of particular interest is that these initiatives point to the development of an overarching design to create a Kazakh model where every citizen receives a solid education and opportunity to participate fully in the economic, social, cultural, and political arena of the Nation and can easily move into the future of a new digital world.
What is really special however is that these policies of the Kazakh model are designed to bring out the very best in Kazakh citizens – Mutual Respect, Fairness, and Tolerance . This goal became obvious when meeting Mr. Bulat Sarsenbayev – Chairman of the Board of the Nursultan Nazarbayev Center for the Development of Interfaith and Inter-civilizational Dialogue at the Palace of Peace.

After my visit, I am in a better position to understand the various parts of this special Kazakh model which is quite applicable on a Global Scale and I am convinced will bring tangible results in ensuring Peace, Progress, and Well-being of citizens in many countries.  I fully expect that the International respect Kazakhstan enjoys now will increase greatly when other nations begin to recognize the importance of Kazakhstan’s contribution to regional and world stability.”

STEPS TO WORLD PEACE BY RECOGNIZING THE VALUE OF THE NAZARBAYEV CENTER

October 2021

Our ability to reach unity in diversity will be the beauty and the test of our civilization.” Mahatma Gandhi.

I know that all of you are aware that we’re here for a grand enterprise. We’re here to support what Kazakhstan stands for? Let me tell you. The leaders of Kazakhstan and Canada have come to a very incredible conclusion that if we continue this present course of individual and national non-cooperation and selfishness, we will be pushed towards the precipice and face extinction.

Together, they concluded and that in the 21st century the biggest social skill that we can develop is to be comfortable with our ethnic minorities. In this century, that is a social skill we must all develop to avoid racial conflicts and ethnic and religious infighting. Certainly, world peace will only be an illusion. That’s why it’s important that we look at the Kazakhstan model for international peace. Kazakhstan’s first president coined the phrase “unity in diversity”.

“Over the years of independence, the basic principle of ‘unity in diversity’ has turned the cultures and traditions of Kazakhstan into our invaluable heritage. Solidarity, unity, and patriotism lie at the heart of our national identity” – Nursultan Nazarbayev.

What do we say in Canada? We say “diversity is our strength” and that is why our two countries have recognized that the way to world peace is to first accept our minorities. That concept finds its first expression in a Kazakhstan organization developed for the purpose of creating world peace: the Nursultan Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue. This centre brings together, on a yearly basis, all the international heads of traditional religions to overcome religious strife
.
VI CONGRESS OF THE LEADERS OF WORLD AND TRADITIONAL RELIGIOUS “NAZARBAYEV CENTER FOR DEVELOPMENT OF INTERFAITH AND INTER-CIVILIZATION DIALOGUE”.
(The idea of creating the N.Nazarbayev Center for Development of Interfaith and Intercivilization Dialogue was initiated by the participants of the VI World and Traditional Religions Leaders Congress in October 2018.)

It is a brilliant idea to resolve conflict and lesson religious radicalism. So, my friends, you realize how important this is for international peace. What would happen if we fail? What would happen if we don’t succeed?  As you know right now we have issues, issues with climate change, issues with artificial intelligence, where the interface between human intelligence and artificial intelligence will be hard to separate in the future.  Permit me to remind you that one lone madman can reduce all of civilization’s achievements with one push of a nuclear button and we would experience a nuclear winter and not be able to hand over our planet to the next generation to our children. It’s a beautiful planet, it’s a blue planet, and it’s a wonderful livable planet. That’s why we need to succeed and continue to support this earnest construction dialogue the Nazarbayev centre has been able to establish. Both, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau have expressed the urgently of this matter; that we must not fail the next generation, and therefore, I ask Canadians, to take a stand and join us in supporting the Kazakhstan model for international global peace, and now I’m looking forward to making the presentations along with Inga, so that you should be recognized for upholding the Kazakhstan model for world peace.
