These new metrics—ranging from the availability of advanced coursework to students’ proximity to parks, trails, transit, and grocery stores—challenge traditional definitions of a good school and stand to reframe the national debate on accountability in education.

New to FutureEd
We’re excited to welcome two new members to the FutureEd team. Josh Anderson, who spent more than a decade in leadership roles at Teach for America, most recently as the organization’s executive vice president, is joining us as a senior fellow for two years to research and write about the myriad ways that urban policy and politics conspire to limit students’ educational opportunities and life outcomes—and how to turn the situation around.
Bella DiMarco joins us as a policy analyst from the Afterschool Alliance, where she worked to expand students’ opportunities to participate in summer and afterschool programs.
